Hi I'm Tyrel

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love everything that has to do with sports. Basketball and soccer are my favorite sports to participate in. I enjoy anything that has to do with the outdoors and I love spending time with family. I am married to my beautiful wife Holly. I am currently in college seeking a degree in athletic training with hopes to be a physical therapist one day. Brisbane, Australia is like my second home. I had the opportunity to spend two years there as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I came to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was truly the Lord's church on the earth today by praying about the Book of Mormon. This is why I continue to be a member of this church. I have seen the blessings come into other people's lives because of the church. Having a knowledge of where I came from, why I am here, and where I am going after death brings comfort knowing that there is purpose to life. I know that God lives and that we are his children. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. HIs life mission was to make it possible for us to be forgiven of our sins, and to one day return and live with Him again. I know that God has called a living day prophet to lead and guide his people on the earth. Because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, alongside the Bible, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God called to restore the Lord's church upon the earth once again. All of these truths I know simply because I prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. If it was true then I would be willing to follow the teachings of the prophet and do whatever was necessary to receive the blessings available in the Lord's church. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I strive to read the scriptures and say my prayers everyday. The best way that I have found to live my faith is by being an example to those around me. I am very open about my faith and am always willing to talk about it with other people. I also look for opportunities to help those around me when the occasion presents itself. As a member of the church I have the opportunity to visit the homes of other members with the intent to serve and strengthen those members in the gospel. I also participate in as many activities within the church as I can to help support and build friendships with other people.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Tyrel
We learn in the scriptures "ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you". The simple way to know if the church is true is to ask God in prayer. However, there are some things which we need to have and do in order to receive an answer. The Book of Mormon tells us that we need to pray with a sincere heart, real intent (meaning you are willing to act upon the answer you receive), and have faith in Christ then God will answer your prayer through special feelings of the spirit. I came to know that the church was true by following this pattern. If a person is not willing to follow the teachings of the church, they most likely won't receive an answer. The same principle applies if a person is not sincere. Read from the Book of Mormon, think about the message it contains, pray to know if it is true. If The Book of Mormon is true then everything else taught within the church is true. If that book is true then Joseph Smith was a prophet and restored the Lord's only true church on the face of the earth. This is how I came to know that the church was true, and I know that it has worked for other people who have tested this pattern. The joy you will feel when you receive an answer to your prayer will be indescribable. A prophet of God once said that a hole in your heart that you never knew was there will be filled. That truly is the case when you receive an answer to your prayer. Show more Show less
