Hi I'm Geoff Tubbs

I am a fun-loving, adventurous, sports fanatic living in Arizona and I have been a Mormon my entire life.

About Me

I am 48 years old and I am a Mormon. I have a beautiful wife of 17 years and two great boys, Tyler and Josh. I have a daughter, Kaitlin, from a previous marriage. She is on the autism spectrum. Because of Kaitlin, I went back to school and received my teaching degree in special education in 2002. I have been both a teacher and a school director over the past 17 years. I enjoy working with special populations and consider it both a calling and a priviledge. I enjoy most sports and love to exercise, although I cannot do much these days due to back problems. I am a Minnesota Vikings, and Twins fan, although I have never been to Minnesota. I am a Virginia Cavalier fan by birth, and a BYU fan. I received my business undergraduate degree in 1990 from East Tennessee State University so I am a Buccaneer fan as well. I received my Master's in Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University so I am a Ram fan for sure.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church (in the covenant) as both my parents were members. I have been pretty active all of my life. I couldn't imagine being in another church. Although I sometimes struggle and nothing is ever perfect, I am always striving to live my life the way He would want me to. I have gone through many trials in my life, most of them physical in the last few years. But I know that these are only temporal and temporary. It can test my faith at times, but it will never get the better of me. I know that my Redeemer lives and that I will be made whole through my faith. I am happy being a Mormon and know that it is the right religion to be in.

How I live my faith

My family recently moved to Arizona from Virginia so I do not currently have a church calling. I enjoy working with the youth although I struggle in being completely and consistently active in the church. I try to live the principles of the gospel and follow the commandments. I think I do a pretty good job with this. I can say that I have always followed the Word of Wisdom, which is revelation to the Prophet Joseph Smith on what we should and should not take into our bodies. I am not a great home teacher nor member missionary. I get very overwhelmed thinking about all I need to/should be doing and feel I can always do better. I try to be a good example to those around me, particularly at work, and be the best boss I can be. I admire leaders like Steven Covey and try to be Chirst-like when interacting with others. I love my family very much and consider this to be the most important of any calling I can have. Spending time with them is what I look foward to the most when I get home at the end of the day! I am interested in geneology but researching can be a challenge for me. I have found a lot of interesting facts, however such as being related to Patrick Henry ("Give me liberty or give me death.") and to Cyrus Wheelock, one of the Mormon Pioneers from the early church days.
