Hi I'm Matthew

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been raised in a family of 13. Yeah, it sounds pretty crazy, but it's lots of fun. It has been a wonderful environment for me to learn and grow in the gospel.  I love to work hard, I love gardening, spending time with friends and family. I love Singing and playing the piano. I'm looking into a career in Agriculture. I am currently serving a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Tokyo, Japan.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have been raised in the church, I wanted to know for myself that it was true, especially in order to serve a mission for two years, I just had to know whether or not the things I had been taught were true. So I asked God, as James directs in the New Testament. And then I knew it was, it just felt so right in my heart and in my mind. Don't get me wrong I don't know everything, but I know enough to know this is the Church of Jesus Christ, and by living this gospel, I can return to live with God. And the only way I've come to know of these truths is by living the gospel, and trying out these things. I continue to learn more each day about the nature, love and mercy of God. This gospel has blessed my life so much, and I've seen it bless many lives that is why I have chosen to serve a mission. I want others to be able to share this same joy and that they might have this happiness to share with their families forever, not just "until death do they part." The gospel has brought so much happiness in my life, and I know that I can live together with my family again with God after this life. I'm so grateful to know why I'm here in this world, where I can live someday, and how I can get there. I know that my Savior Jesus Christ made all this possible through the Atonement. I know these things are true, and I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I would like to live my life in such a way that when the night comes and I retire to bed, I can feel like I did my very best, and blessed the lives of others, had no regrets, and that if I had to die I would be prepared. I want to live my life as if everyday were my last. This life is short, and it is the time we have to prepare to meet God, so every moment in life is valuable to me. I don't want to waste it being idle, or living just for myself, or with feelings of anger toward others. Serving this mission I am on currently, I have dedicated everything to the Lord, and I rely upon him everyday to guide me to the things I need to to do, the places I need to go, in order to bless the lives of others. Alma 37:36-37 I know God loves all of his children. I know that when we serve others, we serve God. My philosophy is to always do my best in everything that I do, and then trust in God to take care of the rest. I am far from perfect, but I know that with God, anything is possible.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

I can answer why Mormon Missionaries proselyte, because I'm one of them. You've probably seen missionaries if you've seen to young men with nametags, white shirts and ties, in suits, riding bicycles. And you may have wondered what motivates them to go around all day in such attire through the heat, the rain, or the snow, just to talk to people. Well, the reason we do it is simple, we are humbly inviting others to come unto Jesus Christ. It is so important to me, that I packed my bags, left my family and home for two years, to go across the world to Japan just to do it. I didn't even know how to speak Japanese but I'm learning. We teach not to take away from the faith and lives of others, but to add to it. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Different from many marriage ceremonies using the words "until death do you part," we believe that God intends for marriage to last forever, not just until the end of this life. Eternal life is living forever with the ones that you love: with family, with friends, with God. This is Happiness. Show more Show less
