Hi I'm Alex

I'm a college student. I'm a football fanatic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I consider myself to be just a normal guy. A normal guy that wishes every day of his life that he had super powers. A normal guy that prioritizes only family and faith above football. A normal guy who would break his back for a plate of brownies. A normal guy that...well, does anything that isn't normal. I love to paintball, shoot and edit movies, and make midnight runs to Taco Bell. I believe that a good story can come from every situation, and I absolutely love to tell good stories. I'm a student at the University of Utah, and I'm working toward a career in sports journalism.

Why I am a Mormon

I, like many other members in Utah, was born into the Church. My parents raised me on the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. During my teenage years, I came to a point where I had questions. I began to wonder if the only faith I had ever known was really the right one, or if I was only following it blindly because that was the way I had been raised. My answer was found through study of the Book of Mormon. I came to know that the book was true. I realized that if the book was true, Joseph Smith Jr. was a prophet of God and had been commanded by God to restore the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints taught the full teachings of Christ's gospel. At the age of 19, like many others around the world, I decided to dedicate two full years to sharing this knowledge with others. The things I experienced on my mission helped to solidify my testimony of the restoration of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I try to apply the things I believe in every aspect of my life. As a student attending a local university, sometimes I am faced with the choice to attend a party where standards do not match my own. In moments like these, I seek to surround myself with others who share similar values. That doesn't mean I shun or look down on people who may not live the way I do. In fact, I still value the friendship of many who are not of my faith, and seek to interact with them in situations where my standards can still be upheld.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mormons believe the Bible to be the word of God. Some people are confused about our stance on the Bible and believe that the Book of Mormon is another version of the Bible, or that we think the Book of Mormon is more important than the Bible. In reality, we hold the Bible on the same level as the Book of Mormon, and seek to apply the teachings found in both books. The Bible is a sacred record containing many of the teachings of Jesus Christ. A study of the Bible, along with all other books of scripture accepted by the Church, will greatly bless your life.
