Hi I'm Amber

I'm a Mormon. And I'm a child of God, a Youth of the Noble Birthright!

About Me

I am an occupational therapist who lives in Texas. Many occupational therapists work with people who have injuries, or with children. I work with people who have mental illness and addictions. When not at work, I like to explore, travel, go to museums, dance, try new things, spend time with friends, play board/card games, and go on road trips with my dogs, Riley and Zeke.

Why I am a Mormon

I converted to the church at 22 while attending a baptist university. I knew from a young age what I believed, and I was always curious about religion, faith, and spirituality. One of my best friends in college was Mormon. As we started talking about her faith, I realized I had finally found others who believed exactly what I believed. It was such a wonderful feeling to finally belong. It has not always been easy being Mormon. There are many myths that scare others, my family not excluded. But I am glad I was curious enough to find out what the religion is really about. I know the church is true, that God has never left us, and that we have a living prophet today. I also believe in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and having an open canon of religious texts. I am so grateful for the guidance of church leaders, the morals I am expected to live by, and a place where I am surrounded with love.

How I live my faith

I truly believe in the value of service. I spend a lot of time in my work and personal life helping others. I am an occupational therapist by calling, more than just my job. I love being able to empower others and to help them understand their worth. I help others in all kinds of ways just spending time with people really listening, giving people rides to activities, helping in the clothing exchange store, setting up activities, and cooking for others.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

We are awesome! We are seen as equals and are acknowledged for our special characteristics, qualities, and skills. We have a special place in the sight of God. We like what other women like. We try to be organized and helpful. We spend a lot of time with our families and each other. It is nice to be surrounded by other women who can relate. Show more Show less

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

First, you should know if you really believe the teachings of the church. The missionaries are great to talk to. They are not judgmental, and they're full of knowledge about the gospel. Just invite them over. Or go to a church service on Sunday. You're always welcome! Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We can increase our faith by testing our faith! We also increase our faith by reading the scriptures, living the principles, and asking for clarification through prayer. Testing out faith is what life is all about! Show more Show less
