Hi I'm Kim

I'm a homeschooling mother of 5 (soon to be 6) children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated with a Bachelors Degree from BYU-Hawaii when I was 20, and shortly thereafter married the Love of my life. We lived in Brazil for a year while my husband was finishing his Master's degree.... allowing me to learn Portuguese. We currently live in California, have been married for 10 years, and have 5 children (and one on the way) that are 8 years old and younger. I have a passion for motherhood. NOTHING I will ever do in my life will ever be more important, or bring me as much joy and fulfillment than my role as wife and mother. I enjoy teaching my children. I know that my influence as their mother is one of the most powerful influences they will ever have in their lives, and I am unabashedly taking full advantage of that while they are young... by teaching them everything I possibly can while they still think I am the coolest person on the planet. ;-) Nothing is more rewarding to me than teaching my children....and being able to witness the fruits of my labors: listening to a 2 year old recite a memorized scripture, watching my 5 year old sew their own Halloween costume, my 6 year old cook dinner for the family, my 7 year old start a business, and donate 100% of the proceeds to someone in need, etc. It is wonderful for them to have the time and freedom to do the things they love, while learning academically, and growing spiritually.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family....allowing me to learn the teachings from a young age. However, there comes a time in everyone's life where they need to choose for themselves. That time came for me when I was around 16 years old. I had friends that were also born and raised in Mormon families that were choosing other paths....as well as friends that were not Mormon and had few moral values. Was I going to go down that path with THEM, or follow the teachings I had been taught at church, and by my parents? Either the church was TRUE and I was going to follow it's teachings 100%..... or it was NOT TRUE, and I would find my own path. There could only be ONE answer, and there was only ONE way to find out. ASK GOD. I prayed to know for myself, and God did answer my prayer. I came to KNOW for myself that this IS indeed the TRUE church of Jesus Christ. Armed with my OWN knowledge of the truthfulness of His Gospel, I was given the strength to do what I KNEW was right, and do the things I KNEW the Lord wanted me to do... regardless of what anyone else was doing. My testimony has continued to grow and strengthen ever since. I KNOW there is a God. He has proven Himself to me. I KNOW He knows and loves each one of us personally. He is aware of our needs and challenges. He allows us to face trials and challenges in order for us to grow, and to become more like Him. He will help us through our challenges if we turn to Him for help. He answers prayers. He has provided a way for us to return to live with Him... and our families... eternally. The WAY back can ONLY be found in and through the Savior, Jesus Christ. I know Christ voluntarily atoned for our sins so that we could be forgiven. I know the way to find true happiness is by following His example, and giving our lives to His service. He gave us scriptures and a prophet to help guide our path. I know God will answer YOUR sincere prayers to find the truth, as well.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by finding ways to serve others. Jesus Christ spent his life in the service of others. I believe that the greatest gifts we can give to our Savior are: obedience (submitting our will to His), and service to our fellow man. There is no greater way to find happiness than to find ways of being His hands here on earth. Of equal importance to me is sharing my faith with my children...giving them opportunities to serve, and to feel that inexplicable joy that can only be found in and through Jesus Christ... and through being in His service. Although, I have served in many capacities within the church, I was recently asked to be the music teacher to the 3-12 year old children of our congregation. It has quickly become my favorite capacity thus far.
