Hi I'm Amber

I'm a Wife. I'm a Mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to laugh. I am happily married to my husband who makes me laugh everyday. We have two young children, who keep me very busy, and sometimes a little sleep deprived. We have two dogs (who sometimes contribute to the sleep deprivation), and live in a small town in the North Western United States. I work from home, in the corporate travel industry. When I have time, I enjoy photography, art, music, hiking, camping, and skiing. I love taking pictures of my family, and of the beauty and nature around me. I don't really have a green thumb, but that doesn't stop me from trying to grow something.

Why I am a Mormon

I was sitting on the floor of our apartment, eating cereal in the sun, watching my 3 month old baby play in his bouncer. I sat on the floor because we were newly married, and had no furniture. I ate cereal because it was one of two choices, and top-ramon did not sound like a good breakfast food. My friends had all started college, and my husband worked long hours. I was alone all day, with my son, and had plenty of time for deep contemplation about my life. This happened a lot, as we did not have enough money for a TV. We did not have enough money for a lot of things. I thought about where I had come from, and all the obstacles I had over come in my short 19 years of existence. I thought about the dream I had of attending college and graduating. I thought about the stark reality of becoming pregnant at 18, and having to start my adult life earlier and less prepared than I had wanted. I thought about the future with my new husband, and family. I thought about the type of person I would raise my son to become, and the type of mother I wanted to be to accomplish that. It all seemed so overwhelming. This was all before I heard the knock on my door. Looking back, I can see how the Lord had prepared me to hear his message, and receive his truth. I had been humbled through my experiences and in my surroundings. The knock I heard on the door came from two Mormon Missionaries. The message I heard was of the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ, through the prophet Joseph Smith. I learned that Jesus Christ Lives and His Church exists on this earth today. His church is lead by his current Prophets and Apostles of today through revelation and by the power of the Holy Priesthood. I learned about repentance and about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I was taught to pray and to receive personal knowledge of these truths. I read of the Book of Mormon, and of the Holy Bible, and was soon baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Life has it ups and it downs. It can be easy at times, and at others seem down right impossible. What the gospel of Jesus Christ does for me is helps me keep perspective on life, despite its constant changing. I am able to stay focused on the things in life that matter most, and overlook everything else. It gives me the ability to see all the many blessings that Heavenly father has provided to me and my family. There is power in knowing where you come from, who you are, and where you are going. I love to share this knowledge with those around me, as it helps others find this peace as well.
