Hi I'm Todd Perry

I live in a small town near Seattle with my wife and 3 kids. I work in finance for a large tech company and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a typical dad who loves sports. I always enjoyed playing sports throughout my life and now I enjoy watching my kids play them now. I coach my son in soccer and enjoy watching him and my two girls play soccer as well. Other sports my family enjoys are basketball, volleyball and baseball. We also enjoy movies together and just spending time together as a family. Our closest family lives 9 hours away; so, we try to be active in our community and enjoy doing things with people in our neighborhood and church. I work as a financial controller in a local technology company and we live near Seattle; so, we love doing things in the outdoors and driving to places while looking at the green forest areas. My wife and I really enjoy our community and our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my entire life. However every Mormon goes through their own conversion story. I gained a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ while serving a mission for the church when I was 19. This time of focusing on Jesus Christ and his teachings and also sharing those same teachings with others helped me increase my knowledge of the gospel. Deep down inside I always knew the church was true, but I had to find out for myself that it actually was and by studying and praying to my heavenly father I was able to find this out. Many people think Mormon's have interesting beliefs, but what we really believe is that our Savior Jesus Christ came to the earth so that we can return to live with our Father in Heaven which to me seems like common sense. The church is structured in a similar way to when Christ was on the earth and we have no paid clergy; so, it is members helping each other learn more about Jesus Christ and that seems very natural to me and how Jesus Christ would have wanted it if he were here.

How I live my faith

I actively participate in my local congregation called a Ward. I have served others in this Ward and the other Wards where I have lived. I have especially enjoyed serving the youth between the ages of 12-18 in these Wards and look forward to my son reaching this age in the not to distance future. I have helped boys learn more about Christ's gospel while still having fun being boys and playing sports, camping, hiking and enjoying the outdoors. There are many ways to compare the things we do in sports or the outdoors to what the Savior has taught us. Like when we are hiking and look around and see the beauty around us it helps us appreciate the things that our Heavenly Father created for us. It is a great time to learn and teach others about why we are here on earth and the plan our Heavenly Father has for us. One of the best things in the church is the fact that we actively serve one other and I truly enjoy getting the opportunity to serve those in my local Ward and also community. I also enjoy reading and studying the scriptures. I can't think of a better way to start the day than by reading the scriptures in the morning and pondering the teachings that are shared and learning from them and applying them to my day. Of course, just like everyone I have struggles as well and some days are better than others, but when I start our my day doing what the Savior would have taught me to do, I know I will make better choices and be a better person even if I stumble and make mistakes during the day.
