Hi I'm Mark

I'm from Sammamish, Washington and I'm an orthodontist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a native of Seattle and many of my extended family members live nearby. My wife and I have four beautiful children who bring us lots of joy! We love being together and have fun playing games, watching a movie, or even just talking around the dinner table. We enjoy playing golf as a family and watching our boys compete on the golf course and basketball court. We also enjoy attending professional and college sporting events, particularly those involving the mighty Cougars of BYU. I am an orthodontist and I am blessed to work in the same community that I live. I love seeing the impact a beautiful smile can have on someone!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for one simple reason - because I believe it is truly the church of Jesus Christ. I know that the Bible is the word of God and that Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and atoned for our sins. I also know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and another beautiful witness of Jesus Christ's divinity. God has always spoken to the world through prophets and I am grateful that this continues in modern times through Joseph Smith and other prophets.

How I live my faith

I do my best to live my faith at all times! It is not always easy but I am happiest when I do. Within our home we have implemented certain things like family scripture study and family prayer to help us center our lives on Jesus Christ. We also strive to keep the Sabbath day holy by attending church and resting from our usual daily activities. Obedience to this commandment has blessed us by keeping our priorities balanced and focused on the Lord, and unifying our family spiritually and emotionally. Currently I am serving as a bishop in the church which is challenging for me, but very rewarding. I am grateful for the opportunity it gives me to work with our youth and help them grow their faith and navigate their lives. My favorite part about being a bishop is helping people apply the atonement of Jesus Christ to their lives. I love seeing the hope and healing in the eyes of those I assist.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Mark
Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is our perfect example in all things, including baptism. Jesus Christ was baptized by immersion by John the Baptist. Why John the Baptist? Because he had the authority from God to baptize. The New Testament clearly teaches that baptism is necessary for salvation. If Jesus Christ had need to be baptized, so does each one of us. Mormons are baptized just as Jesus Christ was baptized - by immersion and by someone who has the same authority as John the Baptist. Show more Show less
