Hi I'm Emily

I'm a singer, a reader, a mother, a Utahn, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Idaho and am an avid reader, writer, and blogger. I love being a mom and I have three cute kids a girl age 6, a boy age 4, and another boy age 2. Yeah. I'm very busy! I am also a musician. I teach private voice and piano lessons and I really miss my college days when I could spend 10 hours a day either practicing or with performing groups.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, but my family was mostly what I would call "Sunday Mormons". I never really knew who I was until I went off to college and realized just how important religion was to me. I have been supported by a loving Heavenly Father my whole life - even through some of the worst kinds of trials people can have - and I didn't quite realize it until I grew up. Now, I value my church membership more than anything.

How I live my faith

More than anything, I love teaching my kids about their loving Heavenly Father and their Savior, Jesus Christ. I love children and I love music, so I teach at home through all the great hymns and children's songs available in our religion. At church, I serve in the children's organization called the Primary. I'm the chorister, so every week I teach the kids new songs and do fun singing activities. I also go around and visit the youngest kids in nursery to do singing time with them each week. I usually spend two straight hours every Sunday singing and I couldn't love it more. I also enjoy singing in the ward choir and often perform solos or group numbers in Sacrament meeting. If there is one thing to be said for the Mormon religion, there's no shortage of musical opportunities! I don't know how I could have lived without it after I became a mom and chose not to pursue music professionally anymore.
