Hi I'm Amanda

Most years I'm a college student. This year, I'm a missionary for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

For most months of the year I'm a college student. Life of a math education major includes all the math I could ever want. This coming year is different because I have decided to serve as a missionary for the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For the next 18 months I will be serving in the work of the Lord. I will be leaving my family for a time but there is nothing I would rather be doing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a testimony of my own. People can share their testimonies but they cannot make you believe. You gain your own testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ though experiences you have in life that testify of truth. I grew up in the church and was baptized at the age of 8. I always had the faith that the church was true but once I became a young adult, I wanted to have my own strong testimony. I wanted to work on my relationship that I had with my Heavenly Father. Through prayer and much study of scriptures, mainly the Book of Mormon, the Holy Ghost testified the truthfulness of the things that I have been taught. Now this did not all happen at once but through small experiences where I felt love and comfort in what I was seeking for. I am a Mormon because I know this church to be true. I am a Mormon because it brings me true happiness and joy!!

How I live my faith

One of my favorite scriptures can be found in 1 Peter 3:15. It says, "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." I want to live ready every day to share the reason of the hope that is in me. That hope comes through my Savior Jesus Christ. I try to live each day as a witness and an example of Christ. I do this by serving and talking to those that are around me about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ on the Earth today. This may seem like a big task but it can be done in the small things done every day. In preparing for a mission, I got a job in a retail store. In the interview I was asked if there were any days that I could not work. The only day I said was Sunday. We talked about that and how important that was to me. Not only do I have responsibilities of playing the music in church but it is a holy day of worship. They were very understanding and were willing to help. I look forward to serving a mission. Every day I will get to live my faith in a way that I have never before. As a missionary I will be a representative of Lord every day as I share the gospel.
