Hi I'm Seth

I'm an athlete and sports fan, layed back, member of an awesome familiy, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Right now I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the Mormons up in Vancouver, British Columbia. I grew up in Southern California and wouldn't change it for anything. I love California and the sun. I am part of a family of 4. My mom, my dad, my little brother, and I. They are amazing and have taught me so much. We get along really well. Before my mission I went to college. I am still not sure what I want to get in to but I have thought alot about law or maybe a history professor. Numbers dont make sense in my head so I try to stay away from them. I absolutely love sports. I played soccer my whole life as well as football in high school. I love to go play pick up basketball games at the park or church with friends. To be honest I think I would choose that over a date. I am a huge BYU, Jazz, and 49er fan and I have fallen in love with hockey and the Canucks in my time up in Canada. I love the outdoors such as hiking and camping. I love to have fun!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because i found out for myself that it was true. I was raised within the church my whole life and honestly lived off borrowed light for quite some time. As I got older that wasn't good enough though and in order to live life the way I knew i could live it I had to make a decision. While in the first 2 weeks of my mission I finished reading the Book Of Mormon for the first time on my own and decided to take Moroni's Promise in the book of Moroni chapter 10 verses 3-5. When I prayed I was hoping for something big. Not necessarily an angel but a super strong witness. As I finished praying I sat and waited and its then that I recieved my answer that has kept me moving to this day. It wasnt anything big just a soft thought that came to me "Seth you already know its true. You have seen the blessings in your life." That was it, and I know it was from God. Being a Mormon helps me understand that I truly am a Child of God, and because of that I have so much potential and I don't have to settle for anything less than eternal. That fact that as a child of God, He will always love me, no matter what I do. That doesn't mean he won't be disappointed with me for my bad decisions but that he will support me in my efforts to repent change for the better. Because we are children of God we can defeat our pasts and make our present and future bright. I have a strong testimony of that. Its not easy and I don't have all the answers, but whenever I'm not sure I remember that this is the only way to recieve all the blessings God has for us.

How I live my faith

Well right now I am serving a mission for 2 years.I visit people and share the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and invite others to pray about it. I also do alot of service such as teach free English Class twice a week and various other activities. At home I went to church every sunday and participated in weekly events that our ward held on Tuesday such as Boy Scouts, Basketball, Campouts, Kareoke, Talent Shows, and other fun things. I participated in primary as a child where I learned so many truths that have helped me stay on track, or get back on track.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

You can pray. That is the only way. The Holy Spirit will make witness to all those who have a willing heart and want to do what God wants them to do even if it means giving things up. The Holy Spirit can speak to us through large manifestations such as angels or visions or dreams but those events are very rare. The Holy Spirit usually speaks to us in our mind and our heart, feelings and emotions and oftentimes we recieve answers through other people who God has put in our way to help us recieve the truth. What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is His all-encompassing act of love in the Garden of Gethsamane and on the Cross of Calvary that redeems us from Death, pain, sorrow, and sin. It literally covers every feeling we have ever felt in our life. This is so that he could understand us completely in order to be able to give us exactly what we need in times of distress. He also felt every joy we have felt in our lives. His Atonement defeated Physical death and because of it we will all ressurrect one day with immortal bodies to be judged and recieve our reward according to how hard we tried to live the Gospel in this life. It also saves us from the effects of Sin. We can be forgiven and recieve peace where a conscience was once racked with guilt. He can heal us physically and spiritually. It covers everything!!! Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

We proselyte not to hurt anyone's faith but rather to share the blessings we have recieved from this glorious restored gospel. To give people the opportunity to accept it or not. Show more Show less
