Hi I'm Marcie

I'm a traveler, a wife, and a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a Master's degree in Second Language Teaching with an emphasis in Spanish. Currently I substitute teach for several school districts. I also teach piano lessons out of my home. I enjoy a variety of things. One of my most favorite hobbies is traveling. I will go just about anywhere at any time. You could say that my bags are always packed. Even though I love to travel I also love coming home and just being with my husband or traveling to see family. I also love music. If it were possible my life would be a musical. I can almost always think of a song that goes along with every situation. I like to play sports. Currently I'm into tennis. When the weather is good I play everyday, sometimes twice. Going to sporting events is also something that I really enjoy. There is nothing like hearing the crowd at a game cheering on your favorite team. Even though I'm into sports I am also quite the girly girl. I love to sew and bake, as well as going shopping.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and I'm so thankful that the gospel has always been a part of my life. At a young age I developed my own testimony- while I don't remember anything specific about this process I do remember by the time I was a teenager I knew that the gospel was true and I was choosing to live it. In college I had the privileged to study abroad several times and each experience challenged my testimony in its own way. I know that because of the gospel and my choice to follow the commandments I was protected during my trips. I also know that I could not have survived without the blessings of the gospel and the companionship of the saints. Now that I am finished with college and my husband and I have moved away from family I am reminded of the strength that comes from the gospel. Everyday I am blessed through living the gospel- I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true gospel and the principles taught are of God.

How I live my faith

I'm so lucky to work with the children of the church. I am in charge of teaching the music in the children's Sunday meetings. I LOVE this job! I am constantly thinking of ways to teach the gospel principles through music. Music is the fastest way to invite the Spirit into any meeting and there is nothing better than listening to the children sharing their testimonies through song.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon was written by several ancient prophets who lived in the Americas. Each prophet kept a record of his time and the writings were preserved after they died. A prophet named Mormon compiled all of these records prior to his death, thus it was named The Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith was given this record and translated it into modern English so that we can read it and learn from those who came before us. Show more Show less
