Hi I'm Filly

I am an artist, I am Canadian and I'm most definitely a Mormon!

About Me

I am 22 years old. I enjoy drawing and painting.I love music but I'm an awful singer. I come from a bi-racial back ground, my mom is french Canadian and my father is of Jamaican heritage. I have many siblings and step siblings. I was the first member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints in my family. Shortly after I had been baptized my mother joined the church and then my younger sister.I was able to recently serve a a full time mission in Jamaica and learn about my fathers culture.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 19 years old. I was walking to the bus stop in the summer of 2009, when two Mormon missionaries approached me. Like always they asked me if I had a belief in God I told them I was Anglican, hoping that they would go away. That didn't seem to work they continued to talk to me and ask questions about my beliefs. I didn't want to be rude to them but I had to catch my bus. They told me that they would like to share more with me and asked for my phone number. With hesitation I gave it to them. A couple weeks later I received a phone call from them and they came by to teach me. I never had the intention to join the church but I felt like I should hear what these missionaries had to say. After a few appointments I decided to read and pray about The Book of Mormon. They explained what it might feel like if God answered my prayer. So late that night I got on my couch where I often slept due to anxiety issues. I usually spent most of my nights staying up late trying to calm my panic attacks. Around this time in my life they were getting really bad and as I laid there I decided I would pray and ask God if the Book of Mormon was true. I sincerely asked God if it was true to give me a sign I would understand. In that moment I instantly fell asleep when I woke up the next morning I knew for sure that what the missionaries had taught me was true and that I needed to be baptized.

How I live my faith
