Hi I'm Cheryl

I am a Latter-day Saint and I love being me!

About Me

Honestly, I'm not even sure what I want to write in my profile! I was born in California, and probably will always be a California girl (I dislike extreme weather! Don't like it too hot or too cold!). I love nature and animals. I don't really like scary things! My career is in Office Administrative Support. I love to read - especially Nancy Drew. It's my goal to read every single Nancy Drew book. I have a phobia of spiders and creepy-looking insects. Uh... I think that's about it!

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. I love my Father in Heaven - He's my best friend! I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have been blessed with the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love the great plan that God has given us, to help us grow and be happy, and return to live with Him again. I am so grateful to know and to have been taught that I have purpose in life!

How I live my faith

I love serving others. I volunteer at a local animal shelter, mostly visiting and taking care of the cats (they are so cute!). I also sometimes serve as an Election Officer during the Elections (I'm one of those people you go to see when you want to vote and they help process you through the line). It brings me joy to help other people (or animals!). I really believe that by serving others, I am also serving God.

Faith is believing in something or believing that something is real even when you can't see it or fully know that it is there. To have faith in God is believing that He is real, that He is there for you, and to trust in Him. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Our Church is worldwide and divided geographically. A "ward" is the local congregation where members attend church. A "stake" is a group of wards in one area. Can be 12-15 wards. A "branch" is similar to a ward but has fewer members attending. There are wards and branches specific to speaking in certain languages or focusing on certain age groups, such as young adults and college students. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

The purpose of life is to live and grow to become more like Heavenly Father and to be able to return to live with Him again. We follow the example of Jesus Christ to know the path to follow back to God. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith. We only worship God, our Father in Heaven, and Jesus Christ. I think the reason why people get confused is that we do talk a lot about and respect Joseph Smith as being the prophet to restore the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth in these days.
