Hi I'm Alfredo

I'm a missionary, a convert, try to be an athlete. Living it up in the Texas Fort Worth Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary and I love what I do. I hope to some day, after the mission, contiue in my schooling and become a pediatrician. I hate procrastinating yet it is the one thing I am probably best at. I grew up in a ranch with a household of cowboys but I am the farthest thing from one. My biggest thrill comes from playing sports especially basketball.

Why I am a Mormon

If it weren't for the power of prayer I cannot fathom where I would be. It was the power of prayer that has caused me to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After studying the Book of Mormon for several weeks I began to taste the fruits that this Holy Scripture provides. As I read from it I felt closer to Christ but one question remained unanswered,is this book the word of God? After a discouraging conversation with my mother and after being told to never read from it again I knew that I needed peace from God and that I needed an answer concerning the Book of Mormon. My mother asked me if the 10 commandments were contained inside this book,I did not know the answer to her question but I felt inside my heart that the answer was yes. Minutes later I prayed with sincerity to know where I could find the 10 commandments and the next chapter that I was supposed to read sure enough spoke concerning the 10 commandments. Some may call this mere coincidence but it is my testimony that God answered my prayer. Why am I a Mormon? Because it was revealed to me through the convincing evidence that God has given us, the Book of Mormon which is true. This is Christ's church and I am thankful to say that.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by devoting two years to serving the Lord as a missionary for the church. I love the scripture in James 1:22 "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only...". There is no greater joy than living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Trials and tribulations will continue to be there however when we live the gospel there is added strength to not simply overcome trials but to learn and progress from them. Being a missionary has blessed my life so much and I am thankful for the miracles the Lord has placed in my path.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Probably the coolest thing ever! So check this out our Father in Heaven has commanded us all to be born of water and of the spirit, in other words to be baptized and receive the gift Holy Ghost by the laying of hands. Well not everyone on earth will get the opportunity to accept the gospel as taught by Jesus Christ so God has created a way for the living to act in proxy on behalf of the dead. By doing so, He exemplifies a just but also merciful God. Show more Show less
