Hi I'm Amberleigh

I'm a boarder, a barber, a big sister, a friend! And I... am a Mormon!

About Me

Hey! I'm Amberleigh. I'm 23 years old, and I'm a hairstylist! I love the precision of men's cuts, but my favorite is the art of coloring. I LOVE all kinds of music, and I wouldn't call myself a rapper but on my free time, I do like to freestyle! Haha!! I also like to mess around on the harmonica, guitar, and drums. I love to snowboard, dance, play soccer, run, hike, surf, jump, & try new things! I'm a big kid because I have four little sisters. We spend a lot of time making up songs together! Spending time with my family is super important to me, we will always be there for each other! I was born a Latter-Day Saint and I am lucky to have very supportive, nonjudgemental parents. Growing up, they took me to different churches and let me learn and feel. Even when I wasn't choosing a wise path, they loved me & let me decide for myself, which helped me to see the love of Christ through them. I saw what life is like without having the gospel in it. (I don't recommend it!) Now I have such a strong passion for life! I'm SO glad to be a member of the true and LIVING gospel! But more importantly, I'm glad to have a good relationship with my Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. They have always been there, I just had to take off the spiritual "blinders" to see them.

Why I am a Mormon

"Oh it is wonderful that He should care for me, enough to die for me." He wouldn't have Atoned for me if He didn't think I had something significant to do in this life. He had faith in me when I had none back. Then one Saturday, it was my family's week to clean the chapel, and they asked me to help. I hadn't been for a few years so I went. As soon as I walked in the door, I felt a familiar peace, and a lady I used to nanny for asked me to come to choir practice with them, I love singing, so I did! When we sang "Lead Kindly Light" I felt the Holy Spirit rush over me. I felt sad & selfish that I had been pushing the Spirit away for so long, yet EXCITED that I had a chance to let Him guide my path again. Repentance means "to change" and I wanted to! I did everything I could from that minute forward to see what God had saved me for. I literally felt my soul renewed that day. Only Christ has the power to renew. He is our Truest Friend. I know that my Redeemer lives. His justice and mercy are perfect, and if you simply ask, He WILL forgive you, He will comfort you, He will guide you, soften you, love you, and lift you above your own capacity to grow. The power of His love is so deep and intense, yet it is so pure and simple. JESUS IS THE CHRIST. I KNOW that this Church is our Heavenly Father's Kingdom, re-established on this earth again. It is REAL. He is perfect, and His doctrine is perfect. The simple truths His gospel teaches, I have tested. They are for our benefit.

How I live my faith

-LOVE -The way I know that the Book of Mormon is true is, I PRAYED that the Holy Spirit would bear testimony to me of its truthfulness(Moroni 10:3-5), APPLIED the doctrines it teaches to my life (which go hand in hand with the Bible). And it is amazing to see the impact it has had in my life! I know how to deal with things big and small. And I know of God's love, and His Plan of Happiness! I know that God will not put any trial (test, temptation) in my way if I am not able to overcome it (1 Corinthians 10:13). He has faith in me, and I have faith in Him. He is my Best Friend! -"Charity never faileth" (Moroni 7:46) -"When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17) -Every time I struggle with something at home or work, (whether it be projects, people, etc.) I pray for guidance or comfort, and specifically what I need help with, then I open my King James Version of the Bible, or my Book of Mormon. Sometimes the exact words that I need pop out on the page, and sometimes I have to search and ponder a little deeper. Faith is key!

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

God is a just and fair God, and not only that, but He is our loving Heavenly Father. If you think about a loving father, would he only accept and bless the sons or daughters that have a certain hair color? Or would He do everything in His power (recognizing personal agency) to help us progress in this life and the next? Rhetorical. In 2 Nephi 26:33, it states that "... he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile." In Acts 7:20, when the bible tells us that Moses was "exceeding fair" He means "comely, or beautiful to God", He isn't referencing a skin color. God loves us! He gave us life! We need to love Him back by being like Christ, and partaking of His goodness. Show more Show less
