Hi I'm Alan

I grew up in Seattle. I am a father of four and a computer programmer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I met our last year of college. We have four kids now. I like to build simple robots with my oldest son. I coach my oldest daughter's soccer team. I enjoy reading and playing games with my kids. My wife and I like to work together in our garden. I play the piano and sing bass in our church choir. I like to collect coins from around the world. I learned how to speak the Castellano dialect of Spanish in Argentina while serving a mission there. I play basketball and soccer when I get the chance. I also enjoy going camping and hiking in the mountains.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because God answered my prayers when I asked Him if the teachings in the Book of Mormon were true. I also asked God if Joseph Smith was a real prophet. When I asked those questions, I felt a warmth and a confirming feeling that made me sure about them. It gave me a conviction that couldn't come from anyone except God. I know that being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and living its teachings is what God wants me to do.

How I live my faith

I try my best to treat my children kindly and love them the way that God does. I use the priesthood to give my children blessings when they are sick. My wife and I chose to be married in the temple so that our family could be together forever. When we married we promised each other and God that we would be faithful to our marriage and family. Each Sunday, I take my family to church where we remember Christ's sacrifice with the sacrament. I am a clerk in our local congregation and help record baptisms, marriages, and other significant events.
