Hi I'm Serena

I'm a Nursing student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a nursing student in Canada. I love working with kids and volunteering in my community. I am a recent convert to the church and I love my life, my family, and heavenly father.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church about a year ago. Never in a million years would I have ever thought that I would join any church, be baptized, and still follow the church faithfully today. I found out about the church when I was walking home from college one day. Two missionaries on byciles were coming towards me and the second one stopped to talk to me. He asked me what I knew about the church and I could honestly say that I knew nothing. As a nursing student I thought that this was ignorant of me not to learn about this faith because I was sure I would have a patient who was a member of this church one day and I would want to have some understanding of their beleifs. As I took the lessons with the missionaries I began to feel that what I was learning and praying about was true and this changed my life significantly. I thought it would be impossible for me as a girl in her early 20's living in a small canadain town to give up my Tim Horton's Coffee every morning but I found that through faith and prayer I have been able to overcome these big challenges in my life. I know this church is true and I am so thankful that I now know Heavenly Father loves me and that we are all his children. I know that the gospel has been restored and that one day I will be able to live with my family for all eternity. This church has been the greatest blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

I'm a Young Single Adult YSA rep and it's been the best calling ever! We don't have a lot of YSA in my town and I was feeling pretty lonely when I first moved here as a member. Now I have a group of friends that get together a few times a week to do awesome activites and we usually eat lots of ice cream. I love going along to lessons with the missionaries and making friends with new investigators to the church. They are always such neat people with really cool life stories and I love being able to share the gospel with them. Visiting teaching has been amazing too as my visiting teaching partner is wonderful and has taught me so much about being a good sister in the church.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Serena
Mormon women are such wonderful and special people. We are all equals in the eyes of Heavenly Father and all his sons and daughters are special. Mormon women like many woman in the world are loving, caring, motivated, and are influential memebers in society. We believe that women and men are equal, but have different roles in a family. Neither role is more important that the other and a family works in harmony when both these roles are fullfilled. Show more Show less
