Hi I'm Britney

I'm a mother, a homemaker, and a Teacher Asst. who works with autistic students. My life is blessed because... I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in beautiful Northern Michigan. I love to garden, scrapbook, craft, paint (rooms not canvas!), and believe it or not...organize things! Our family hobbies involve boating and camping. My husband and I have four beautiful children...three sons and a daughter. I was a stay-at-home Mom for 22 years and then returned to work recently to help support our children in their church missions and part of their college. I have a VERY rewarding job. I work with Kindergarten-age students who have autism. I am very intrigued by learning about autism and how it affects students and families. I enjoy working with these students, figuring out how to help them to grow and be successful in our world. They teach me a lot and I love them!

Why I am a Mormon

My faith came when I was in high school, as I read, studied, and prayed about the Book of Mormon. I felt a confirmation in my heart and soul that this Book was true, just as much as the Holy Bible is true. Both books of scripture are the words of the Lord and a guideline for all of our lives. They are of God. Because I received this confirmation, I did not ever want to be parted from these truths. The gospel principles of Christ's true church bless my life and my family. I am grateful to know of my Savior, Jesus Christ, the significance of his life and mission, His Plan of Salvation that tells me who I am, why I am here on Earth, and what I need to do to return to live with Him one day. The values and standards of the Mormon faith bless my life with health, happiness and most of all, purpose. Because of this Church, I am blessed with a loving, strong, peaceful and secure family. I know that the Savior atoned for me personally. I'm grateful to have His Spirit to guide, protect and comfort me when I go through trials. I don't know where I would be without my faith.

How I live my faith

My family and I attend church regularly. Our religion cements us together and helps us grow spiritually closer to our Savior. Sometimes our children have been the only Mormons in their school, and they really stand out when they live the standards set for Mormon youth...to always do your best, refrain from swearing, refrain from drinking and smoking, and wear clean and modest clothing. But our children have always gained the respect of their peers and are happy, despite being so different. Our sons have been involved in the Boy Scouts of America through the Church. My husband has served as an ecclesiastical leader and I am a teacher who works with the youth ages 14 to 17. Two of our sons so far have devoted two years of their lives to serve as full-time missionaries for the church. One son served in Brazil and one served in France. When they are 14, our children complete a scripture study course every day as well as their school work and activities. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ brings us happiness and peace, and makes us better people, and gives us a greater appreciation for our fellow man and the world in which we live.
