Hi I'm Blake.

I write music, I'm an orthopaedic surgeon, I love being a dad, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently an orthopaedic surgery resident and with my wife, we take care of 1 daughter and 2 sons all under the age of 7. Time is limited in residency so when I am not at the hospital taking care of people with broken bones and such, I try to spend as much time as I can playing with my kids or spending time with my wife. My family means everything to me. I can get up early every morning because I know they will cheer for me when I come home at night.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a mormon all my life, but I came to know for myself why I believe in and love this church. I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover for the first time as a young man and I felt a great warmth and sense of truth come over me and I knew from that moment on that it was true. Now as I get older and understand both the Bible and the Book of Mormon more deeply, I am impressed with the congruity of the early church after Christ's death and the church restored in these last days through Joseph Smith. They are both Jesus Christ's church. That's a fundamental truth to me but even more than that I love being a Mormon for the association with people who are always striving to be better every day. Not in a competitive way, but in a way that lifts everyone at the same time. I am inspired by the prophet's voice on the earth today and know that by living the standards taught in the church, I can find joy in this life and avoid the many pitfalls of this world that would only bring disappointment, sadness, and shame.

How I live my faith

I love music and have been blessed to be the choir accompanist and director at church. I feel especially uplifted with music, and I hope it provides a special spirit for others as they listen. I am also inspired by the words of the scriptures such that I have written many songs on many themes. The neat thing about all of this is that we do one job at church for a while and then may have a completely different responsibility at another time that allows us to grow and to develop talents that we may have not known we had.
