Hi I'm Ashley

I am a child of God. I'm from South Carolina where saying "yes mam & no sir" are commonplace. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful husband who loves and supports me. I am a stay at home Mommy with my own little business on the side. It's more of a paid hobby inspired by my daughter. Being a mother is the greatest accomplishment I will ever have. My husband is going though college to get his doctorate in Physical Therapy. Even though I'm not taking actual courses, I feel like I'm in college with him so I totally intend to put my name in fine print on the bottom of his degree because when it's all said and done, I helped earn that degree just as much as he did. I'm accident prone. My favorite color is pink and I love any kind of oriental food. I love happy endings and my favorite movie, is Pride and Prejudice. I love doing Zumba and yoga, anything physically active that doesn't require much coordination. I also love creating things, and feel like I'm building up to Martha Stewart status when it comes to crafts, not really. I love to cook but hate to clean. I love to laugh and cuddle with my family. I hate scary movies. I still have the imagination and mind of a child, even though they tell me I'm an adult. I truly appreciate the small things in life and love to read. I believe there is something to be said about being nice to people, it's not hard to do and it can change people's lives. I'm a simple person, but I have a testimony I can do all things through my Savior. My family is my life. I love the gospel and it completes my life. It's simple and true.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in the church from a small child & always knew in my heart that the church was true, I consider myself a convert. I had a testimony of my own, but relied heavily on the testimony of my family. I didn't truly convert & gain a testimony of my own until right before my 21st birthday. I came from a broken home, while my father did everything in his power to meet my needs, the absence of a mother, was detrimental. His testimony guided me through life & he was always very forgiving & understanding, like my Heavenly Father. He taught me of the Atonement & Christ's love for me. I never consider myself inactive since I always knew the church was true deep down, but I had my free agency and didn't always choose the right. I experienced a life of depression & hurt, a sense of loss & searching for purpose, I did not like the person I had become or where I was headed in my life. I felt like there was a gaping whole in me & being a 20, I thought I knew better & had all the answers. Through a series of events and many people placed in my path, I was able to realize, I needed to make a change. When I was around members in the church, I saw something within them. I loved being around them, I felt happy & loved & accepted. I knew what I needed to do, I knew I had fallen off the straight & narrow path, but I decided to come back to church, no matter what the consequence or isolation I might endure from others, I had to do it. It was the best decision I have ever made. I was welcomed back with open arms & overwhelming love, not only by the members of my church, but by my Savior and Father in Heaven. I felt an overwhelming sense of peace and found what I had been searching for. I experienced first hand, the power of the Atonement & was made clean again. I was overwhelmed by the abundance of blessings I received after my return and continue to receive. I am grateful to be a member of this Church and experience the change it's made in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live a Christ-centered life. What does this mean? I believe I am a child of God, I believe we are all children of God, and because of this, I try my hardest to see everyone I encounter as a Child of God and treat them as Christ would. I try to follow His example in all things & when I fall short, I know His Atoning sacrifice allows me to repent. I try to help others in need, whether it be a smile to a stranger, holding the door open for someone even when I'm running late, or taking a meal to someone who is ill. I put my family first. I teach my daughter from the scriptures and try to teach her right from wrong. I love her with an unconditional love and try to set an example for her. I've taught her the importance of prayer and the principles of the gospel. She's very young and even though she might not understand my words, she knows and understands the spirit. I pray with my husband and we study our scriptures, and I truly believe the success of our marriage and family, is solely contributed to its foundation in the gospel. I serve in my church as a teacher for the youth, specifically the young women, and I absolutely love it. They are such sweet girls and I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach them, although, I feel like I learn so much more for them. I strive to keep my home in a way that is peaceful and a sanctuary from the worries and distractions of the world. I want my home to be a haven for my family where we can focus on our Savior and be renewed. I am constantly learning about the gospel and striving to improve to live its principles more closely. I'm not perfect. I'm a simple person, but what I love about the gospel, is how simple it is. Anyone can understand it and it just makes sense. With that, and a personal witness from the Holy Spirit, it's impossible to deny that this is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth today.
