Hi I'm Leila

I'm a stay at home mother of 4 girls.

About Me

I am a stay at home mom to 4 great girls ages 2 to 11. I love to quilt and read. I like to read so much that I try not to - I get so wrapped up in a story that I don't get anything done until I finish. Anyone else do that?

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are active members of the church, so I have been a Mormon virtually from birth. But why am I still a Mormon? When I read the Book of Mormon and Bible, I feel the spirit and know what is written there is true. When I listen to talks from church leaders, I feel the spirit and know what they say is true. It is all of the little things that make me a Mormon. All of the answers to prayers, all of the times the spirit has touched my heart...

How I live my faith

I don't think faith is just a "Sunday Thing." I think we live our faith when we are Christ-like in everyday situations being patient in traffic, helping out others, not gossiping and showing patience and love to our children - even when they are whiny. My husband and I try to live our faith by reading the scriptures and praying as a family every evening. We try to take time to talk about what we are reading with our girls so they understand and can apply what we read. We try to be good neighbors and involved in the community. I currently serve on our small town Planning and Zoning Board. Over the years, I have also served in various ways in the Church's programs for children and women.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Leila
While not a requirement, all young men 19 years old are strongly encouraged to serve a mission. A mission is not only an opportunity to share the gospel with others, but a once in a lifetime opportunity to dedicate yourself 24/7 to the Lord. Everything you do during the day from personal scripture study to teaching others about Christ strengthens your personal testimony and commitment. Young women are eligible to serve missions when they turn 21. I felt that I should serve a mission and turned in my application after my junior year in college. I was called to go to the Belgium Brussels Mission.  I spent most of my time serving in Northern France and Luxembourg. If you ever have the chance you have to visit - absolutely beautiful! It was not always easy and not always fun but it is an experience that I will cherish. It strengthened my faith and my testimony. So, if those young missionaries with their black name tags knock on your door, invite them in, give them something to drink and take a listen to what they have to say.
