Hi I'm Susan

I am from North Carolina and love living here with my family. My husband and I have 4 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4. Three boys and one girl ages 18, 16, 12, 10. My oldest is going off to college this year and my youngest is starting middle school. I love raising my children with my husband Jeff. I am mostly a stay at home Mom. I do substitute teach occasionally. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Elementary Education. I love to cook, scrapbook, and organize. My favorite hobby is genealogy. I really enjoy learning about my ancestors. I also love to vacationing with my family. I guess you can say it's a hobby of mine to plan vacations for us. We have gone on many road trips all around the US. I also love to exercise. I go to the gym daily, but I also play basketball with the ladies at church and I run occasionally. At church I teach the 12 and 13 year old girls. I love teaching them and enjoy their excitement about life. I love my life and wouldn't trade it for anything!

Why I am a Mormon

One reason I am a Mormon is because I was born and raised in the faith; however, this is not the reason I have stayed a Mormon over my lifetime. Membership in the church as given me the opportunity over the years to feel of God's spirit, to witness many small miracles in my life and the life of others, and to afford me many opportunities to give service through which I have had the Holy Ghost witness to me the importance and truthfulness of it. I am a Mormon because I want the guidance of the Holy Ghost given to me after my Baptism. I want my children to also have this special gift of the Holy Ghost. I want the guidance as well of a living prophet. I know through the years as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that the prophet has spoken many words of wisdom revealed to him from God that have help me in my life as I have followed his counsel. I appreciate the sweet blessing that have come through living the gospel principles taught in the church. My family has been blessed, protected and guided as I have followed it's teachings. There have been several close friends and family that have sadly not believed in the teaches of this church and have tried to persuade me to leave or doubt the things I have been taught. I know only truth and goodness comes from God and darkness and sorrow comes from not following his counsel. As I have pondered on the things they have tried to tell me that were incorrect about my faith I have not felt good about it and have felt a darkness and loneliness that enveloped me. As I have remained faithful to the testimony I gained early in life and exercised that faith by continuing to live it's teachings, by going to church, reading my scriptures (Bible and Book of Mormon), and praying I have been filled with an indescribable feeling of belonging that I know only comes through the spirit of God. I know this church contains the fullness of the Gospel taught by Jesus when he lived on this earth,I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the teachings of Jesus Christ and striving to do as he would do in everything I say and do each day from the way I treat my family to the way I do business with others. I want to live my life so that others will enjoy being around me and can feel God's spirit with me. At church I am a visiting teacher. This means that I have several sisters that I visit monthly to become their friend and to help them in any way that I can. I take a spiritual message and I have a companion that goes with me. I really enjoy the friendships that I have made over the years doing this and the many opportunities I have had to serve those I love. I also teach the 12 and 13 year old girls at church on gospel principals. I love their excitement for life and they motivate me to be a better person myself. I volunteer at church to help out with the cub scouts and the boys scouts. I do have sons that are in both of these organizations. I like to help out with their activities and give service to help the troop and pack run as it should so that the boys can grow in not only their physical skills, but also the values and good principals the scouting program teaches. I feel like the boys need good volunteers to show them the example of how they can also live their life and hopefully as they grow older they will in turn by a great citizen in their communities and a good role model for young boys.
