Hi I'm Shauna

I grew up in Northern California. I work in the field of education with children who have special needs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been happily married to my husband for twenty-three years. I am the mother of the four most interesting and talented people I know! My family is my source of joy. I work out side of the home and I have many hobbies and interests such as swimming, skiing, sewing, hiking, and reading - but they all take a back seat to my precious family time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born into a family who were already members of the Church. However, everyone has to be converted at some point in their life. I felt very comfortable with my beliefs as a child, but began to have questions as a teen when my friends challenged my values and standards. As a sophomore in high school, I felt the need for a personal witness that this was the true church on the earth today in order to stand up to the peer pressure I was facing. After reading the Book of Mormon and praying for the answer Moroni promised in chapter 10, I received that witness. And I have never looked back!

How I live my faith

I have been fortunate to have many different opportunities to serve as a member of the church. For many years I served with the young children during Sunday School and more recently I have taught the youth. I love working with the teens! They have so much enthusiasm and energy. For two years I was able to teach the early morning scripture study class that meets daily before school. Spending time studying the word and works of our Savior puts me in the proper frame of mind for my work with special needs students. They already have that spirit with them all the time - I need to work daily to achieve the same level of spirituality. It helps me to see them through the eyes of our Savior.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We believe that we are saved by grace. We believe that we must do all we can to serve our fellow man and live the way that our Savior would have us live. After all we do, however, it is not enough to save us. We will never achieve perfection in this life. Therefore, Christ steps in and makes up the difference. He saves us through His limitless love, generosity, and goodness. He saves us with His grace. Show more Show less
