Hi I'm Rees Atkins

I grew up with great parents and siblings. I enjoy studying at BYU. Great mission in Guatemala for God and the people.

About Me

I am one of six children to my mom and dad, and an uncle that loves playing with the children of my siblings. I love playing the piano, singing, musicals, fantasy like Harry Potter, and historical fiction like Stepping on the Cracks, and my school work like economics. I have great friends who I make and eat food with, discuss politics or philosophy with, or just talk about our lives. I enjoy thinking about what my future will be like, I hope to have a big family and a job that will let me work with people and keep on learning. I've had great teachers and professors that really encouraged me, I hope to teach someday and do the same. I served a mission in Guatemala and loved it. I came to see that people are more filled with good desires that I had thought before. I came to Washington, D.C. for an internship and I am meeting some truly special people and enjoying the feeling of this city.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family with parents who were married in the temple and have taught me the importance of God the Father and Jesus Christ in my life. By studying and listening to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, one step at a time I've become sure that the Book of Mormon has messages from God and that Joseph Smith was called to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ and other truths that have directed my life toward Jesus Christ. Through every trial and blessing that I have had, I know that God is guiding my life. I know that the leaders of the Church are called of God. I have seen that it is worth it to follow the counsel I receive from God; doing so always bring joy.

How I live my faith

I try to uplift my friends and family by being kind. I try to share what I've learned about the gospel and the world with others. I believe I can share the love I've felt from God by being inclusive of others and helping them know I think and care about them. I've loved visiting people in my congregation at their homes, I always feel God's love for all of us as we discuss the gospel and our families together. I try to obey God so that I may please Him and receive the blessings He has for me.
