Hi I'm Linda

I'm a convert.

About Me

Until I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day- Saints and was taught that I am a literal daughter of God I had absolutely no self confidence. I was taught as a child that I wouldn't amount to anything and I believed that. With my new found identity I found myself developing my gifts and talents and I adopted the motto, “Whether you think you can or you think you can't you are right!” Now besides being a wife, mother, grandmother and yes, even a great-grandmother, I sing in the choir, do water color paintings, enjoy interior decorating, acting in plays, growing a beautiful flower garden and love sharing all this with those I meet.

Why I am a Mormon

I always believed that there was a God. When I was in my youth my grandmother would take me to church with her. At birth I had been baptized in the Catholic church. The older I got the more questions I had. I had a special friend in elementary, her name was also Linda. Going to her home was like stepping into another world. There was a feeling there that I had never experienced. At the age of eleven I was invited to be baptized into the LDS church. I accepted even though I knew very little about their doctrine. It was that special feeling that I wanted to have. Not long after becoming a member my parents moved to a different part of the city and it would be years before I reunited with my friend Linda. I was not active all through high school and married at a young age to a man that just happened to be a member of the LDS church. Slowly I started learning about the “Plan of Salvation.” Where I came from, why I am here and where I will go when my earth life is finished. I always wondered how the Indians had come to American and by reading The Book of Mormon I found my answers. Everything started to make sense and I began to have that “SPEICAL” feeling once again. The best thing is knowing that God and Jesus Christ are real and that they “LIVE!”

How I live my faith

I feel that the gospel has given me the conference that has helped me to grow into a women of substance. Because the gospel has given me so very much I want to give back and share with all those who have a desire to listen. I have held many calling in the church that have truly taught me in so many ways. For example, to be a better listener, not to judge and to get to really know that person. To be a leader and to lead by being a good example. To serve without complaining, and to really enjoy to serve. I have learned to share of my substance and to share generously. Recently my husband and I were called to be directors for a youth spectacular that was performed in front of 23,000. We had the responsibility over about 1,200 youth and 500 leaders. There were nearly 5,000 youth in the production. If you would have told me thirty years ago that I would have been doing such a thing I probably would have passed out right on the spot.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Linda
This is probably one of the most important principles of the gospel that I love. My husband and I decided one spring day that we would do our yard clean-up. Our two older sons went to a near by field to play while our toddler stayed at our side. My husband decided to move the car forward to sweep the drive-way where it had been parked when he accidentally ran over our son. As I walked into the ER at the hospital I heard my husband on the phone telling his parents that it was too late and that our son had passed away. Loosing a child was the most painful experience we had to that point and since. When they say your heart is breaking, it feels just like that......like your heart is breaking....literally. But the feeling that comes from knowing that you are sealed together as an “Eternal Family” brings such peace and sweetness that you are able to survive.  Show more Show less
