Hi I'm Katie

I'm a wife, a student, a workaholic, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a newlywed as my husband and I were married in July 2012. I love married life; nothing is better than always knowing you have your best friend by your side. I'm a student; I'm studying English with a concentration in Writing and Literacy. I'm planning on getting my Master's in order to be a secondary educator, high school counselor, or publisher/editor. I still have a year to figure it out (: I've always maintained at least 1 job (usually 2+) since I was 16. I learned the importance and value of hard work from my parents which I am so thankful for - it has blessed me tremendously! And I have learned for myself the truths of the gospel; I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I always had a testimony of the gospel and knowledge of its truth. Growing up, I could tell the happiness my family and I shared due to our gospel roots. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restored Church in this dispensation. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and through him the Lord was able to restore the gospel, the priesthood, and true gospel doctrine. I have come to know all of this through personal experiences like scripture study, prayer, visiting the temple and hearing the testimony of others. I continue within Mormonism because I know that within this gospel is the full word of God. The Lord can still communicate with us daily. He can do so personally when we are in tune with Him and are worthy of the Holy Ghost. However, He can better communicate with ALL of us to give us guidance through our prophet, Thomas S. Monson. The Lord has always made use of His prophets of old. Why wouldn't we have one on the Earth today?

How I live my faith

Currently, I am serving with the young woman of our church. I am the second counselor in the Young Women's. I get to learn from and interact with the youth 12-18 about the gospel and life in general. These young women are so courageous and strong as they uphold their standards and live their testimonies daily even in such a demeaning world that we live in. Day-to-day, I try my best. I'm constantly trying to improve as my goal is to be like our Savior. Our Savior was always loving, selfless, loyal, virtuous, meek... many characteristics I strive to develop on a usual basis. A way that helps me to do so is by studying the gospel. My husband and I read the Book of Mormon together each night which helps to strengthen my faith and better understand my purpose and role in this life. I also try to study the conference talks from the general authorities of the Church as these words are living, latter-day doctrines of our time.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Katie
Yes! I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God on today's Earth just like Moses was in his time. The Lord provided prophets in Moses' time to proclaim His word shouldn't we then have a prophet today as well? Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Katie
I, myself, am continuing to work on this. Just like with the relationships we share with our family and friends, it's a work in progress. We continue to grow closer to each other and learn more about one another over time. We always get more out of a relationship, when we put more into it. It's the same when it comes to our Heavenly Father! We can come to know Him through prayer, living the commandments, studying the scriptures, serving others, and by listening and learning the modern day teachings and testimonies of our prophets and apostles -- today! By doing these things, we can see His hand in our lives and better understand His love for us. I am a daughter of God who has a Father in Heaven who loves me dearly. He loves each one of us -- individually. Show more Show less
