Hi I'm Scott

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dad and husband. I grew up in the Seattle suburbs. I love the outdoors, and the marine environment of the Pacific Northwest. The San Juan Island archipelago in Washington is one of my favorite places to visit. I have a bachelors in business and a masters in healthcare administration.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have gained a strong testimony of the truth in the message they share. The remarkable story of Joseph Smith's humble beginnings, translation of the Book of Mormon, and re-establishing the Lord's true and living church can be hard to understand from a worldly perspective but the scriptures teach that the Holy Ghost testifies of truth. It's simple really. I asked God in prayer if this story was true and if this church was indeed the true church of Jesus Christ, restored to the earth. I didn't see any visions or hear any voices but the feeling that came over me as I contemplated all the questions I had was that this was the true church. It's been a wonderful experience for me. The comfort that comes from following the commandments has brought peace to my life in spite of the troubles that occasionally show up. I know it's true and that knowledge came from God to me directly through his Holy Spirit.

How I live my faith

I have spent a great deal of time with the young people of our faith. Scouting is closely tied into the programs of the Church for our young men and I have been an active participant and supporter of that program. I try to find ways to take our young men to opportunities to serve others and our community. I also have been actively involved in helping people find employment, whether a member of the church or not. The church has developed some wonderful tools to help people organize and improve their career management efforts. Teaching people how to use and apply those tools to their own lives has been very rewarding.
