Hi I'm Jed

I was born in South Africa. I graduated with a BS in Computer Information Technology. I love Motorcycles. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a computer nerd. My dad was a programmer in the 70's and when I was young I was always fascinated in what he did. He bought us a computer in the 80's that had a 20mb hard drive and 25mhz processor. I was in love. I continued the interested through high school and college. During college I created websites for local companies. I now work for an amazing corporation and get to do what I love everyday.

Why I am a Mormon

I came to know God was real when I was an early teenager. I went on a camping trip with my dad and some others. We hiked in a mile from the small road up in the snow covered mountains. After falling asleep that night I woke up hours later needing to use the restroom, located back at the cars. I didn't think the walk was that far, and headed back the way we came. I made it there, but on the way back I got lost in the darkness. I wandered around for what felt like an hour, calling out to anyone that would hear. The snow was deep and I was getting tired. I fell through ice a couple of times getting wet from the shallow edges of the lakes in the area. I was scared. That was the first time I really needed my father in heaven. The first time I felt like a scared little child with my only hope in him. I stood there, folded my arms and pleaded in prayer. I opened my eyes slowly and my flashlight was pointing to the ground and there were foot prints. I don't know whose they were or why they were they're but felt like I should follow. Not too long after, I was back at our tent area, safe and sound. I'll never forget those footprints in the snow. After my camping experience, I knew there was more to this life. I knew my father was looking after me. I was able to seriously read the Book of Mormon and come to know it was divine. To know that Joseph Smith really did see our Father and Jesus Christ in a small grove in the spring of 1820, and to know that we have a REAL prophet on the earth this day, just like Joseph of Egypt or like Moses of old. I knew it so much that I spent two years sharing it with others. I was able to watch some wonderful families come closer together and really get to know the Lord. To this day, I have been blessed far more than I ever deserve, every wonderful thing in my life continues to confirm God is there and Jesus Christ is his Living Son. Only in and through his atonement can we be forgiven of sin and live with him after this life.

How I live my faith

I visit 6 different homes of people in my congregation every month. I teach them from the scriptures and help them with anything needed. Such as volunteering my vehicle, helping them move, providing meals when they are sick, rebuilding a broken fence, taking out the trash. Anything I could possibly help them with. I also encourage them to pray everyday and to read from the scriptures as these are what can help strengthen their relationship with God. I volunteer myself for service to anyone I can. It's a promise I made with the Lord a long time ago as I watched others bless my life.
