Hi I'm Kärlek

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

About Me

I grew up in the lush forests of the Pacific Northwest. I love the mountains and forests. I am a husband and father of three young children. I am also employed as a graduate student in plant science, while working for a tree care service. I have worked mostly outdoors in botany, forestry, wildland firefighting, wilderness therapy, landscaping, and outdoor education. I also very much enjoy reading books and having conversations. By the way, my name is one of the Swedish words for "love."

Why I am a Mormon

My mother has always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She introduced me to the church when I was a child, and I participated somewhat in the church's activities. However, when I was a teenager I decided that "my mom's church" was not for me. I went off on my own for a while and looked for the truth. I visited other churches and participated in some Eastern religions and philosophies. I always believed in God and eventually came to understand out in the forests that I could communicate with Him. The more I attempted to communicate with my Creator, the more I learned from Him. I learned to identify messages from God by paying very close attention to my innermost feelings. Eventually, I felt God's Spirit persuading me to go to the church that I knew from my childhood. This surprised me, but I went one Sunday and felt a peace and power I had never felt before. I asked God if I had found the true church. He responded with such perfect clarity and light that I immediately knew I had found God's kingdom on the earth. Ever since that day I have always been able to recall that experience and remember that I am a part of this church because God told me it is the true church. I want to do what is right and live my life based on truth. Despite the imperfections of myself and other members of the church, I know where the pure truth is found and I enjoy living by it.

How I live my faith

I pray daily. I look for opportunities to help those with less than I have. I teach a group of cub scouts with my wife. I teach children every week in Sunday School. I visit some of my neighbors to make sure their needs are met. I have the opportunity sometimes to participate in community service projects. I go to church every Sunday and physically make a commitment to correct my mistakes and be like Jesus Christ.

Are Mormons Christians?

Kärlek
The moniker "Mormon" is actually just a nickname derived from the name of one of our principal texts. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, like the Bible, and was compiled mostly by a prophet named Mormon. From one of the pages of the Book of Mormon itself, one may read on page 100, "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a redemption of their sins." Yes, "Mormons" are Christians. We believe in Jesus Christ and try to be like Him. He is the Savior of the world.  Show more Show less
