Hi I'm Ben

I’m a husband and father. I’m a dentist and a marriage and family therapist. And I’m a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Provo, Utah and am the oldest of eight children. I served a mission for the chuch in Tokyo, Japan. I was single until I was 35 when I met and married my wife. We have two children. I earned a bachelors degree in Zoology, a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and Dental Degree. I am a full-time dentist and a part-time marriage and family therapist. I like college football, working out at the gym, reading, landscaping and gardening.

Why I am a Mormon

My ancestors joined the church in 1832 and we've been here ever since. Of course its easy to think I'm a Mormon because I was born into the church. However, being raised outside of Utah where most of my friends were of other faiths, serving a mission for the church in a foreign country and attending three different universities gave me ample opportunity to evaluate my faith and my testimony. I'm a Mormon because I have a testimony that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true. At some point all of us have to ask ourselves why we believe what we believe. As a young man I began to realize that I needed to have my own conviction of what I professed to believe. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. I learned to recognize spiritual impressions and answers to my prayers. I gained confidence in my faith as I realized I'd been having spiritual experiences throughout my life. The answers I received as I read and prayed about the Book of Mormon were very strong. It teaches me about Jesus Christ, about his gospel, about my relationship with him and about how I can be more like him. I've read the Book of Mormon over and over, so many times I've lost count. I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe he is my savior and the savior of the world. I'm a Mormon because this is the church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church and worshiping with the other member of my ward. I live my faith by helping others at home, at church and in my community. At church I serve as the bishop of our ward. It's a big responsibility. I try to be kind and charitable. I try to be a good husband to my wife and a good father to my children. Working full-time and being the bishop of our ward takes a lot of time. I make sure to set aside time for my family. My marriage and my children are the most important things I have. I read and study the scriptures. These help provide answers to problems I face, and they help me be a better person.
