Hi I'm Ken

I ride a Harley. I'm in construction. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I served as a Navy Seabee for 14 years, doing construction all over the world. I met a terrific Japanese woman when stationed in Japan. We have been married for 28 years and have five children, four boys, one girl. After raising our children in southern California for the past 27 years, we now live on the east coast and are enjoying all the new sites to see. I ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle and my wife rides on the back. My hobby is customizing my motorcycle, my recreation is riding it. I've been in construction since I was 11 yrs old. I've worked on commercial and residential buildings, roads, runways, bridges. I love it! I'm also an avid Frisbee player.

Why I am a Mormon

I didn't expect to join the Church, only to learn enough to get my wife out of it. When I learned that I could be together forever with my family, not married only "until death do you part", I was very intrigued. I have learned that God did intend for us to carry our family relations to the eternities, not just for time on this earth. I have learned so much and I know it is true because of the good feeling I get when I am learning gospel principles. Family is important to me. I saw how alcohol and compulsive gambling can drive families apart so, it was easy for me to discern something that would bring families closer together. Raising my family in the Church has been wonderful. I had no idea how close we could be. I wouldn't trade it for anything. We are so happy! I really wish my parents would have had the chance to experience this. They would have been so happy. For now, I would like to believe they are smiling down on us as they watch my family grow together.

How I live my faith

I have discovered that the best things in life happen to me when I am helping other people. I think it was designed that way. We are here to experience the challenge of fighting off our natural (self centered) tendencies by focusing on making the world (neighborhood, school, work place, etc) a better place for others. When we all do that, the world becomes a wonderful place to be. I am in the High Priest Group Leadership and my job is to coordinate the teaching of the High Priests and to perpetuate genealogy. I am also a Home Teacher. Once per month I check in on my assigned families and bring a brief gospel lesson. I look for opportunities to help them. I often help them with maintaining or repairing their home. Prayer has had significant impact on my success. As I strive to live a clean life, I am entitled to the promptings and guidance from Heavenly Father (as promised in the scriptures). He has helped me make important decisions regarding my family and work. Now, I couldn't imagine living without that guidance. I say a prayer every morning and keep an open prayer in my mind throughout the day. I pray at every meal. I pray with my wife every night. We are so happy.
