Hi I'm Randall

I love building things. I am studying Mechanical Engineering. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am recently married and loving it! I am going to college right now, studying mechanical engineering. I played the tenor drums in my high school marching band, and continue to enjoy playing the drum set and piano.  I love learning about great entrepreneurs and I hope to have a business of my own some day. I grew up in Arizona and so I love the Phoenix Suns and the Diamondbacks. I am 25 years old.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I grew up going to primary and Sunday school and learning about a loving Heavenly Father who cares about me and my happiness. I learned about what He asks of us as His children and that if we do what He asks, He will bless us with happiness and meaning in our lives. As I have grown older, I have learned for myself that this is true. I know that obedience to our Heavenly Father's commandments is the only thing that can bring us true happiness. I am so grateful for that knowledge. I have been blessed in so many ways because it. That is why I decided to share that knowledge with others by serving a mission. By saving all of my life and with a little help from my parents, I had enough money to pay for my living expenses for two years in Brazil. While I was there, I was able to share the happiness that I found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ with that people. I saw the changes that happened in each individual's life as they came to know for themselves the truthfulness of the gospel. It was the most rewarding time in my life so far. I know that God loves me, that He sent His son, Jesus Christ to pay the price for my sins. I know that when we obey His commandments, we are blessed. I hope to return to live with my Father in Heaven some day, having been the best person that I could be while on this earth. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My wife and I attend church meetings every Sunday at the building closest to where we live. Most of the people that attend with us are young college couples, so we have a lot of fun meeting new people and making friends. At church, I teach a class to some of the men. We usually talk about a specific subject that will help us be better husbands and fathers. During the week, I try to make good choices and live righteously. I try to be ready to serve others whenever I see that someone is in need. Although I fall short sometimes, I try to be honest and kind to those around me. My highest priority is my family. For right now, this consists of just me and my wife. We set aside Monday nights to be together and talk about how we can improve ourselves. Each evening we share our experiences of the day and try to do something fun together like playing a game or watching a movie at home. Friday night is date night, so we usually go out to eat and then do some sort of fun activity afterwards.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

The Bishop and other leaders don't receive any monetary compensation for the hours of service that they give. Just like me teaching a class on Sundays, everyone in the church has a chance to serve the other members. Sometimes that opportunity includes teaching a class. Sometimes it is the opportunity to share musical talents. Sometimes it is the opportunity to serve as a Bishop or other leader. Our responsibilities and opportunities to serve change often. I think that it is a great way to show Christlike charity and love for others.  Show more Show less
