Hi I'm Jak

I'm a missionary, I'm a rugby player, I'm kind of a mess, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

i am spontaneous. which basically equals that there are a hundred things going on at once in my life. and that i am terrible at finishing one thing before jumping into the next. right now i'm halfway through my degree, having attended both byu-idaho as well as byu-hawaii. it took me three years to get two years of school done because i took off twice to china to teach english along the way. the nine months i spent there were absolutely fantastic; i LOVE chinese people so much. i also play rugby, and love love love all contact sports. my rugby position is #8, but i'll play any position that lets me hit people. i spent a year and a half living in taiwan, serving as a missionary for my church. i saw so many miracles as i did my best to help people come to better understand how the gospel of Jesus Christ can bless their lives. once i got back from my mission i transferred to my third university, this time in provo, utah. i'm currently working at the mtc (missionary training center) teaching missionaries how to share the gospel and how to speak chinese. my life is way too good.

Why I am a Mormon

i'm a mormon because in every single day there is the good and then there is the bad. tough times come often but the gospel of Jesus Christ makes each day a good day no matter what happens. though i still hurt and experience a ton of trials, the gospel teaches me to have hope, trust in the Lord, and appreciate both the good and the bad times for the knowledge gained by those experiences. i'm a mormon because i know that following the example of Jesus Christ and truly trying to become like him, will bless my life as well as teach me how to bless the lives of others. ultimately, i am a mormon because the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, and regardless of who you are, it will bring happiness into your life. it has done so for me, and has helped me to understand who i am, and who i can become with the help of a God who really knows and loves me.

How I live my faith

i live my faith by attending my church meetings and activities and trying to share that opportunity with others. i live my faith by willingly sharing it with whomever would like to listen. i love answering the many questions asked about the church by my non-mormon friends and family members, and am truly blessed to also be a teacher at the mtc and help current missionaries prepare to share the message of our religion. most importantly, i live my faith by trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ. i believe that all people are inherently good and i just want to do as the Savior did and dedicate my life to them. i spend each day trying to spread the joy that i have and attempting to make people a little happier than they were when i found them. if that includes teaching them the gospel then that is fantastic... if all it includes is helping them smile, i'm as happy as can be.
