Hi I'm Cindy!

I grew up on Oahu, Hawaii. I love LIFE; to learn; to draw; to help others. I love music; to read; to walk my dogs. I am a mormon!

About Me

I first learned about this religion when I was 16, when these guys dressed in suits, came to my door. I let them in and what they shared with me seemed to connect all the pieces that where confusing me about religion in general. Ever since I decided to make my baptismal covenants with Our Heavenly Father, my life is so much better. Good and bad things still happen but I am happier. I read a LOT. Mostly the book of Mormon or Fantasy books. I have been reading more religious books lately than anything else. Drawing is something I have always done and I know I'm getting better. I went to massage therapy school and received my license. I have two dogs, a Pit mix (Gina) and a German Spitz (Foxy), and a Goffin Cockatoo (Peaky). I was a foster family for a local dog organization the Hawaii Dog Foundation (LOVED IT). I love to dance to music with a good beat. I've been told quite a few times that I'm weird and am very happy about that, it just means that we can learn something from each other. Happy days to you!

Why I am a Mormon

I want to share with you my first WRITTEN testimony. I wrote this just after I finished reading The Book of Mormon from cover to cover for the first time on October 31st 2011 ( I know). ALOHA! I testify to you this book and the things written in this are true and good. They are meant for YOUR benefit. These lessons have made me a better person and have softened the harsh blows of living in a society that isn't always kind to its fellow man. I testify that Jesus IS the true Christ; that these teachings are His teachings; that he teaches the lessons Our Heavenly Father KNOWS we must learn. I testify to you that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that they are connected; Father to son. I know that this church is true and good and set up as Our Heavenly Father commands and that it too is for YOUR benefit. I pray that Our Loving Heavenly Father will protect you always, that you may be blessed as I have been, with unending faith and a desire to seek the truth and good, I say these things in the glorious name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Charity is taught in the bible as something we all should practice and strive after, Because " Charity never faileth." I love the different ways this church has set up to help us do that. I cherish all that we learn and do.

How I live my faith

My first calling was to teach in Nursery (18 months-3 yrs old) when I was about 19. I felt it was the right thing to do even though I didn't know a thing about what to teach or how, I mean how do you teach an 18 month old? It WAS work because I had to learn the lessons before I could figure out how to keep there attentions, so in a way it was more for me than for them. My Mom was always BIG on manners so at snack time we would always ask for things with please and thank you. As the kids got older I started to notice changes when there parents would come to me and thank me and ask me how I taught them manners or, to say a prayer, for instants, or to recognize a picture of Jesus, or the current prophet. I didn't really have an answer for them until I started to pay attention to what I was doing with them. I realized that the class was growing, rapidly, and I needed help so I went to the head of our church. Now you have to realize, I am a convert, I didn't really know how the church worked, so doing this was hard for me. That's when I was assigned an assistant. I have never had someone ask ME what to do before, but it worked out well. Now I am serving my full-time mission. Who could have guessed? I certanly didn't! I always thought that it was great for my friends to do, but "It's just not for me." God works in mysterious ways! I know that He loves me and is guiding me. I am learning to love people and my mission even more than I thought I could!

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Paying tithing is a commandment of God. No one forces me, its not even required in the church. There is allways a good reason for everything He asks us to do. Tithing goes to those who need it most, all around the world. Paying an honest tithe helps me to remember Jesus and those who are less fortunate than me. It also reminds me to keep track of the money I do earn and allows me to appreciate the things I do have. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a truth that you recieve only from God through the Holy Ghost. It is powerful in that truth that you don't even have to guess what, or who, the source is. Heavenly Father wants us to recieve our own testimonies for ourselves, so they may differ, person to person, but a truth is a truth no matter what words you use, or what stage of life you are in. Having a testimony is special and must be actively sought after. Testimonies grow the more you show God that you truely love him and the more you seek more knowledge of him and the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are incouraged to share our testimonies with others that our testimonies can be strengthened and that we can learn from each other what God wants us to know. Show more Show less
