Hi I'm Jacob Earnest

I'm from Culver, Oregon. I enjoy teaching, theater, sports, and being with great people. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born in central Oregon to the parents of Alan and Jann Earnest. I am the youngest of three kids. Growing up in this region i was able to be surrounded by the country landscapes and also farming. My siblings and I raised pigs to take to the county fair. I did this for seven years, and am grateful to have experiences like this and others. I was, more or less, the only member of the LDS church in my school growing up. I served a mission for the church to British Columbia, Canada. This experience was a pivotal moment in my life. One that will be cherished for eternity. I have since graduated from BYU-Idaho with a Bachelors in English. Currently I live in Provo, Utah where I am working as a substitute teacher and part-time employee at the city library. I am 25, and excited for the opportunities of the future as well as a future family of my own.

Why I am a Mormon

I know the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I have come to know that for myself that this church is His church, the Church of Jesus Christ himself. I didn't always have this knowledge. Going through high school i knew the LDS was good, being a member of it my whole life. But it wasn't until i made the awesome decision to serve as a full-time missionary did i really begin to see what it was that I had. I had taken the eternal truths that were taught to me weekly for granted, and I did not fully live by them. As I came to myself as a missionary and asked myself if i really did know. After prayer and experiences which are too sacred to express here, I know the gospel is true. I have received many witnesses from God that The Church of Jesus Christ is true. The more I live the gospel the more peace and happiness come into my life. I invite you to find out for yourself. Read the Book of Mormon, and record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas, and ask God, the source of all truth, if it is true. If you do this, with real intent to know, He WILL tell you.

How I live my faith

The gospel is awesome! I make it a goal of mine to read the scriptures every morning as well as pray everyday in the morning and evening, and any other time. This is has blessed my life so much as it helps me maintain a focus on whats really important in mortality. Most importantly I am able to invite the Holy Ghost into my life everyday. I substitute teach for release-time seminary right now in the Utah Valley area. It is the best thing in the universe. I love feeling teaching and learning about the gospel with the youth. It is a blessing to be with them, and having a wonderful uplifting time. I serve in my Young Single Adult Ward as a Home Evening Group Leader, where each Monday other Single Adults around my age gather and I am in charge of organizing a spiritual lesson and activity. Its challenging and rewarding.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Jacob Earnest
Joseph Smith wad born in 1805 in New York. He was raised in a christian family, and taught good principles. He, in his youth wanted to know which church was true, for he was confused as to which of the religions was really right. He decided to pray and ask God, and in doing so was visited by God and Jesus Christ who answered his question be explaining that the true church of Christ was not currently upon the earth and that he was to join none of the existing churches. He was informed that the true church of Christ was to be restored once again to the earth, and he was later called to be the Prophet of that restoration. He was led to a set of records of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas, translated it by the power of God, and it is what is known as the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Joseph experienced many hardships in his journey to do all he could to build the kingdom of God on the earth. He was tarred and feathered, poisoned, imprisoned, shot at, etc. But he never denied his knowledge of the truth, and he was eventually martyred. God has established the restoration and the means whereby his kingdom could roll forth just as it did long ago. God set-up a system where a new prophet will be called when one passes away. Just as Elisha recieved authority to be the prophet once Elijah left. This has happened. Brigham Young was the succeeding prophet after Joseph Smith and today it is Thomas S. Monson. I know this to be true! for God has told me so Show more Show less
