Hi I'm Richard

I'm a husband and a father. I'm trying to cure deafness, one patient at a time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born to faithful parents. My father was a convert to the church when he was 16 years old and living in Germany. He learned about the church while doing a school project on America. His teacher, not a member of the church, challenged him to focus his topic on something like an American religion, "like the Mormons." As a dedicated student, he sought out the missionaries, read the Book of Mormon, and was converted by that miraculous book, "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." My mother has always lived a Christlike life and embodies the virtue of charity. I am blessed with a wife who always sees the best in me. She and our four beautiful daughters are the focus of my life. I know our family will be bound together eternally because of both our being sealed together in a temple and because of the truth taught within the church. My professional work focuses on helping deaf people hear and curing diseases of the ear. It is a blessing and a privilege to serve God's children in this way.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon has provided me with a knowledge of and relationship with God. I have spoken to Him in prayer and I have seen answers to my prayers. I know He lives. His Son, Jesus Christ, served us in way that allows us to become very near to our Heavenly Father. We can overcome our mistakes and weakness and become better people. I learned this from reading the Book of Mormon. There is something about reading the words on those pages that changed my life and gives me ongoing guidance. It is a book from God. It is a book that is true. The man who translated it from an ancient record, Joseph Smith, was a prophet of God. He saw Jesus Christ and restored Christ's church on the earth. This church continues to be led by a living prophet, Thomas Monson, who is also called and chosen of Christ. These truths have given me an unequaled sense of security, peace, identity, and happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the very best I can to follow the teachings of Christ. I have found these teachings in the scriptures, the words of living prophets, and the feelings I get from God's Spirit directing me. I also live my religion by doing the very best I can to care for and serve my wife and children. While I am far from perfect in these pursuits, living my religion has also taught me that I have the capacity to improve.
