Hi I'm Steve S.

I'm a Mormon disciple of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I enjoy the regular things in life like simply being with family and friends whether it be playing sports, games, most outdoor recreation activities, or simply sitting around a fire pit or in a hot tub talking about politics, religion, relationships, school, work, you name it.

Why I am a Mormon

The first time I really started caring about God and religious stuff was in my early teen years. I was born and raised a Mormon, but I didn't know if this was how I wanted to live my life. First, was God even real, or was it a made up concept to help people feel better when life is hard? Many people would say how they know this church is true and are convinced with all their heart. But that's the same thing anyone from any religion could probably say with just as much conviction. I know we aren't the only religion that claims to have prophets, priesthood, more religious books, and all these things so why should the Mormon faith be any different than all others? Any person can claim to have seen visions from God or angels and other religions have produced books about it. The Book of Mormon is the first main evidence as to whether this Joseph Smith guy was a prophet of God or not. My family read The Book of Mormon often, but I decided to read it for myself. They promised that if I read and prayed to know if it's true, then I'll know without a doubt that it is, so I tried it. I read the whole thing and did the ol' "okay God this says if I ask you I'll know." I expected a warm confirmation or something, but as I sat there...nothing. I just set it aside and didn't think about it again for a couple months. Later, I wanted to try again. This time, I really wanted to know if this is the course of life I'd want to pursue. I read The Book of Mormon again and about half way through as I was reading I kept getting these thoughts that it was true. This was all true things that happened that I was reading about. Since this is true, then God did do all those miracles and blessings for people and the only way I can read it is if Joseph Smith did indeed receive the visions he claimed to. After realizing this I saw many evidences that proved to me that the book is true. After I have received this testimony, I have proven all things true to me and yes, I looked very far into it.

How I live my faith

Most people want time and money. Well, I'll give you my time and though I don't have a blank check to give, I will help anyone get what they need if necessary. Besides going to church on Sundays and participating in activities, I live my faith by trying to make the community a better place than it was the previous day.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Steve S.
People think we worship Joseph Smith or "the church" more then Jesus Christ because of our frequent mention of how we love what Joseph Smith did and what the church provides for us. We worship the same God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as any righteous person in the Bible and we’re just grateful for the work Joseph Smith did to bring back God’s kingdom. We appreciate Joseph’s teachings just like the teachings & writings of former prophets and apostles in the Bible. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Steve S.
The original apostles were instructed by the Master Himself and given authority to govern His kingdom on earth with the Holy Ghost. There always needed to be 12 apostles. 11 is incomplete as when Judas left. In Acts 1 we read about a new apostle being enlisted in the work. Christ told them they were to be rejected by the world in Matthew 24, but they spread Christianity far and wide as long as the world would hear before falling away. When the world was again ready, 12 apostles were once again established on the earth with the same priesthood authority as the original. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Steve S.
Many, many people today try to "prove" there is, or is not a God. Some try to prove a certain religion wrong, and another right. In just Christianity, different teachers of religion can interpret the same scriptures of the Bible to get so many different teachings. If a belief in God is proved by an experiment or logic, then that belief can be taken away, just as quickly, by an experiment or logic. I have learned what it means how God will give us a witness of Him through the influence of the Holy Spirit. That's the only way to really know. Scientifically, that "good feeling" is said to come from our own thoughts and beliefs, but I can promise that those feelings will come ONLY when acknowledging God. No other ideas or thoughts can mimic the TRUE sensation of the Holy Spirit touching your soul. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

Steve S.
Life continues for the deceased individual. Only, in a different way. Our spirits continue to live in a state of happiness and peace if we've lived worthy of that reward. You don't have to be Mormon to go to this Paradise, but you do have to be a good person that cares about others whether you're Christian, Mormon, Buddhist, Atheist, Muslim, or whatever. The gospel of Jesus Christ is preached to all spirits in the next life and everyone will have a great opportunity to learn about our Savior. The state of life for people that chose evil ways won't receive this kind of blessing, but they'll have the opportunity to repent once they learn and obey the teachings of the gospel in the spirit world.
