Hi I'm Jan

I love spending time with family and friends. I love good food and good fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My fun loving husband and I have been married for 34 years. I have four children and five grandchildren. I must admit I love spoiling my grandchildren. I graduated from the University of Missouri Dental Hygiene School in 1977 and have worked as a dental hygienist for over 30 years. I love spending time in the outdoors hiking and camping. Waterfalls and mountains tops are my favorite scenery. I enjoy listening to music from country to classical. My favorite at home activities include computer family history research, cooking and playing board and card games. Five Crowns and Sequence top the game list.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because living like I and other Mormons believe brings great freedom and happiness. I am happy when I keep the commandments of God. I have learned I am truly a daughter of God and he knows me by name and loves me. My faith in Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, sustains me, no matter what comes my way. My life hasn't always gone as I expected or wanted, but the Lord has been there to lighten my burden and bring me guidance, comfort and peace. This journey of life is just that, a journey. I am here to learn and to grow and to become like my Savior. I know this journey does not end at death, and with the blessings granted in holy temples of our Lord our most precious family relationships can continue forever.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by trying to be honest, kind and by serving others. Often that service is within the walls of my own home as I care for my family. I also serve at church by teaching a Sunday lesson to the women on various gospel topics ranging from family to the second coming of Christ. Weekly I teach a lesson to individuals who are preparing to make further covenants with God in his holy temple. Often these are couples who will be attending the temple to be sealed(married) for time and all eternity. I love seeing their joy as they prepare for that special day. I also visit three women from our congregation each month. I share a spiritual message with them and see if they or their family have any needs. In the community I volunteer my time at the local senior center and help with a free income tax service for low income taxpayers.
