Hi I'm Ashleigh

I love cupcakes, I'm a musician, an Elementary Education student, and most importantly, I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a college student going into Elementary and Special Education. I love children and the many things you can learn from a child and the child at heart. I love music! I love to sing, play piano, and goof around on the ukulele. I love learning new things and growing in unexpected ways. I love being in the outdoors, hiking, swimming, and just soaking up the sun and enjoying all of God's creations that I am surrounded by.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and grew up as a Mormon but there was a time in my life where I couldn't rely on what my parent's believed anymore. I couldn't just believe because I was surrounded by believers. I needed to find the truth for myself. I went through a really rough time of life which eventually caused me to come closer to my Savior and Heavenly Father than ever before. I live with chronic pain every single day of my life. I started to question whether God truly was who He says he is in the scriptures. I questioned His relationship with me and whether he truly cared about my well being. I stopped reading my scriptures, and praying, and found myself bitter towards God. I felt abandoned and was not happy. I was miserable! I had turned my back to my Heavenly Father. After much searching resources outside of the church I decided to turn back to what I had been taught as a child. I finally turned to my Heavenly Father and told Him I was bitter with him and asked Him to help me get rid of the bitterness. I told Him I wanted to be happy. I attended the Temple and felt more peace than I had asked for, and more love than I could imagine. Because of this experience I KNOW that my Heavenly Father loves me so much! I know He answers prayers. Not always in the way we expect, but he DOES answer! Although I still have pain every day of my life, I am so much better off having the Savior on my side. He lifts me and strengthens me. He lifts me to heights I never saw possible.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my hardest to be the best person I can be. I am not perfect but I try to live up to the potential my Heavenly Father sees I can be. I live my faith by attending religion classes to learn more about the Gospel. I constantly try to do my hardest to pray daily and constantly in my heart to maintain a closeness with my Father in Heaven. I read the Book of Mormon and Bible and soak up the messages they have that always come out especially when I need them. I live my faith by trying to live the way Jesus Christ would live. I know I'm not perfect, but as I strive to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, I am definitely a happier person.
