Hi I'm Alex Contino

I love bluegrass and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a professional chef who had decided to become a nurse. I enjoy playing bluegrass music and going to concerts. I love being in the mountains, and enjoying the outdoors. a href="http//mormon.org/me/4KRN/"img src="http//mormon.org/bc/assets/images/widget/profile-button/rectangle-im-a-mormon-brown-rounded.png" alt="I'm a Mormon."//a

Why I am a Mormon

I was converted to the church January 2010. I was 23 years old. My girlfriend, was a member and I didn't even know it for years. She was not active when we met, and as time went on she became active again. I grew up with catholic roots, but I didn't really consider myself "religious." I always new there was a being who loved me and governed the eternities, but it was never a subject I relished on unless I was in a bad spot. So anyways, she invited me to go to church with her, at first I was reluctant. However the first time I went, much to my surprise I enjoyed it. People were really nice, and they were talking about deep concepts like, "where do we come from?" and "what happens when we die?" It was unlike anything I'd ever expected from the "Mormons." All I knew about them was that a great long trek across America was named after them. At first the word of wisdom seemed a difficult thing to comprehend, I was transgressing nearly every part of it, and I wasn't sure I wanted to stop. It was by the blessings and happiness that Heavenly Father showed me when I tried that gave me the strength to do it, and now I am so grateful. I agreed to start missionary discussions, and that was when I started getting serious. I read the book of Mormon in a week. I loved it, it was the first piece of scripture that I enjoyed reading, and couldn't put down. So much of it applied to here and now, and life like situations. By the time I finished I learned to pray, so I got down on my knees I was by myself and I prayed with all my heart to a being I was starting to believe more and more actually listened to me, and asked to know the truth. The feeling that came over me was a feeling of love, truth. I felt as if my whole life had led up to this moment, and that I was here for a reason, and it was my destiny to go forward. I agreed to be baptized. I am now married to my best friend. She and I were married in the Winter Quarters Temple April 21st 2011, and I've never been happier.

How I live my faith

I Serve in the leadership of the young men in church , and we strive to provide the best home teaching program we can. We take pride in loving each other and having a burning testimony of the gospel to show others. We teach each other to strengthen and support one another as a community and a church.
