Hi I'm Tyler

I am so thankful for Jesus Christ. I'm serving a full time mission in the Rapid City SD mission, and loving it! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I spent my entire teenage years looking to find "my own path". When I was 9 years old my parents got a divorce. I didn't see it so much then, but I was upset at my parent and with God. As I grew older I pushed farther and farther away from the idea of religion and began looking for fulfillment through other avenues. I thought I was happy, I was having fun and had a lot of friends. I had a good paying job, and yet I wanted something more. I remember waking up after my 20th birthday. I look at my surroundings and reflected on the night before something within me became unsettled, this was not the life that I wanted for myself, I knew that there was something better out there I didn't know what it was but I knew that I didn't have it, I so I ran away. I moved away from everything I knew and ended up in California, while there I started meeting with the missionaries once a week. They invited me to church and to read the Book of Mormon. I ended up making it out to church but didn't see any need to read this book. I didn’t see what impact it would have not to mention that I was not much for reading. I let the missionaries know that I didn't have any desire to read. They then offered to give me a priesthood blessing to help with my lack of desire (the priesthood, they claimed was the same power that Jesus gave to his Apostils in the New Testament). I said with some reservation "Sure, what harm would it cause?" They laid their hands on my head and my world has forever been changed.

Why I am a Mormon

Please sincerely look into this faith, don’t allow the lack of faith from others to keep you from finding the truth. Remember that the most scripturally educated men of the time were unable to see the Savior for who he truly was. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it is True. The priesthood of Jesus Christ has been restored on the earth and we have it. I love the Book of Mormon, it is the proof that Joseph Smith was called of God. To be honest I don't think church is all that fun, being a member of this Gospel is not easy, it requires a lot. I have been called to be a missionary at my own expense in some of the worst weather in the nation, and yet I do so with joy because I know the blessing that this gospel is and how valuable it can become if you know it for yourself. The bottom line is its true and I know it with all that I am. "Only the gospel with save the world from the calamity of its own destruction." ~Ezra Taft Benson 1988

How I live my faith

I must live my faith every day, especially as a missionary in this church. I need and seek after the companionship of the Holy Ghost. By living and learning the teachings of our Savior I can know where to turn for help when life gets hard. My faith has helped me to find out why I'm here and what I need to be doing. As a result of my faith I now more fully understand the plan that my Father in Heavenly has for his children, I understand in part the reason for the suffering in this world. I seek to live my faith by striving to develop grater love and behaving in a manner that He would be pleased with.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Tyler
I proselyte because I know the priesthood within this church is real. I have seen the blessings that have flooded my life as I live the principles of this gospel. Being a missionary I have also seen how others lives have been changed through applying the teaching and testing it out. This truth can and will change your life if you will allow it.
