Hi I'm Melissa

I am a Music Lover, I am a writer, I am a type 1 diabetic, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music, when I am in the car and the radio is on I could probably tell you exactly who is singing and what song they are singing based on the intro to the song. See I love music. I am an avid writer, Fiction is my forte along with poetry which sounds more like song lyrics. That would be an interesting career. At present I am still trying to decide what I want to be when I "Grow Up". College is fun especially when I am learning about something I am already passionate about. I love volunteering for various events that raise money for the cure of diabetes. I have known many people with it and am also diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes. Sure life is hard when things get rough, but when I look at the future I see a world of light through Jesus Christ. I have served a full time mission on Portland, OR which by the way was the best 18 months ever.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a mormon, of course I have had moments where I didn't always go to church. It wasn't until I got into college that I decided this is where I need to be. I started reading the Book of Mormon around that same time. I know that Jesus Christ is God's only begotten son and that he died for me so that I too might stand before God with out fear. I know that Joseph Smith is His revelator and prophet and that today Thomas S. Monson stands as his servant today to lead us all to truth.

How I live my faith

Whenever there is a need to serve those around me I am always willing to help. Especially when it makes the other person smile or laugh. In the women's organization of the church I visit with another woman in the congregation, at least 2-4 other woman and we talk about christ together, we talk about the daily struggles that every woman deals with, and just plain enjoy each other's company. A couple weeks ago I helped a woman plant her vegatable garden which was fun.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

I like this question. Anyway, kind of like those sales pitches on comercials for that brand new waffle iron where someone says that it works for them and maybe it works for you. In the spiritual sense a Testimony is that witness to the teachings of christ and the existence of Christ. a testimony can start with I know that Jesus is the christ which can build up to I know that Jesus is the christ and that Joseph did see God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. Not only that a Testimony allows the Holy Spirit to speak through the one who is testifying. Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely. That question has puzzled me for the longest time. It's an honest one but I understand why, we are normally called mormon's. To tell you the truth the official name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Yes we believe that Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary. I do believe that he died for us on the cross and suffered in Gesthemene, and rose from the tomb. That last part is what I hold onto. He lives, I may not see him in person, but he lives in my heart.
