Hi I'm Eva

I'm a university student preparing to serve a mission and then attend law school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a senior in college, majoring in Philosophy and minoring in Spanish and in Logic. I have one semester left, but am taking a year off to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and am very excited to do so! I love sports and being outdoors. I swam competitively for 10 years and have played a lot of basketball and soccer as well. I also love music - I play the piano and the organ and am trying to learn the guitar. When I return from my mission, I want to attend law school and maybe also get a masters in international relations. I am very interested in international law and international diplomacy. I am the oldest of ten children, the youngest five of which are adopted. I love my family and enjoy spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have found that the greatest joy that I experience in life comes from living the Gospel. As I read the scriptures, pray, and strive to live the commandments daily I am able to feel peace and direction in my life. By doing these same things I have come to know for myself that this is Christ's true church upon the earth. I know that it was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith and that the Book of Mormon in God's word, adding another witness of our Savior to that of the Bible. I know that the Priesthood, or the authority to act in God's name, has been restored again to the earth and that because of that we can receive the ordinances necessary to return to our Heavenly Father. I also know that through this proper authority, families can be sealed together so that we can live together for eternity. I am so grateful for this blessing in my life. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer and that it is only through His atonement that we can be saved. I know that He atoned for us because of the great love that He and our Heavenly Father have for us. We are literally Heavenly Father's children and He wants for us to live with Him again. It is for this reason that He has given us the Gospel - to help show us the way back to Him. It is also because He loves us that He has given us a prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson, to help show us the way back to our Heavenly Father's presence. I would encourage any who are seeking peace and direction to live the doctrines that our Church offers. Christ has promised us that we can know if the doctrine is His if we live it. I know that this is true because I have done it myself.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always striving to love and serve others as Christ would. I am active in leadership and service organizations at my university and also serve in my church. I have had the opportunity to serve in my church as a teacher of the youth, as a Sunday School teacher, and as an organist for our church services.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the greatest blessing that I have in my life. Some people look at our faith as a religion with too many rules and regulations. However, I know that these commandments that we have are given to us by a loving Heavenly Father who only wants what is best for us. Just as a loving parent will set rules for their children's well-being, so does our Heavenly Father give us commandments to help us find true happiness and return live with Him again. So to me, being a member of the Mormon church has never been a burden, but rather has been the source of the most incredible joy as I am able to follow God's will for my life and experience the joy that comes from being in line with His desires for me. I have grown closer to my Heavenly Father and to my Savior Jesus Christ through participating in the Mormon faith than I have in any other way, and this brings such great peace and direction in my life. Being a Mormon is joy.   Show more Show less
