Hi I'm Richard

I'm a Husband, Father, dentist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Richard, I'm a Husband, Father, and a Dentist. I live in Virginia, and I enjoy getting outdoors in all of my state's beautiful resources, from the rivers, lakes, and beaches to the mountains with their sky slopes and hiking trails. I am thankful to live in such a beautiful land and I know our Heavenly Father has blessed us so much, and getting outside is just one of the ways that I can remember all that he has done from me.

Why I am a Mormon

I find happiness in living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I learned at a young age that God loves me, because I am His son. Finally, I read the Book of Mormon as a teenager, and it just made sense to me. God loves all of His children, and he wants all of us to be happy. He has blessed us with prophets and commandments to guide us and help us reach our greatest potential - to help us be happy, I know that is true. Sometimes, we might feel like we can't live up to righteous standards in a modern world, but when I make right choices and try to learn what God's plan is for me, I'm happy and can move forward with faith, no matter how difficult it may be. I know I can always turn to Jesus Christ if things get difficult or I lose my way, because He is the Savior of the world, and He is my personal Savior as well. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 413

How I live my faith

Currently I get to have fun and get outdoors with the Young Men as a Boy Scout Leader; it is awesome, and I love it! It's great to teach and strengthen the youth in their faith while at the same time helping them to become more well rounded individuals. I try to be a good example to them, and to my neighbors and co-workers, however, I realize that I'm not always perfect. That's why I try to study the scriptures to learn to become more like my Savior, and I pray many times throughout the day to try and understand God's will for me in my life, because I believe He wants to take an active role in each of our lives.

What is the priesthood?

Richard
The Priesthood is the power of God given to his children to act in His name. When Christ was on the earth, he followed God's pattern of ordaining men like Peter and James and John to this priesthood so that they could administer the affairs of his church after he was ascended into Heaven. Through this power, the Apostles blessed their fellow Christians by performing baptisms, giving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and even administering the bread and water in remembrance of Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for mankind. This Priesthood was central the workings of the Lord's church in olden days, and is central to the workings of the Lord's church today. A man must be called of God and receive the priesthood from one who already has that authority, and then he can baptize, administer and act in God's name. This priesthood is a sacred responsibility, and it has blessed my life. I know that God leads us through righteous men who hold his priesthood. I have been blessed by the ordinances of baptism and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and knowing that through these priesthood blessings, I can become clean and return to live with our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ once more.
