Hi I'm Amy

My husband and I have four little boys under the age of eight. I play the piano, make cards, and love playing with my boys.

About Me

"I'm happily married of ten years and have four young, rambunctious boys. My oldest was diagnosed with "high functioning autism" when he was 3 years old. Needless to say there is not a dull moment in our home. My mom jokes when she calls the house. She says she's calling "dial-a-noise". I'm not much of a cook. But I love to bake goodies. Listening to the Superman movie theme gets me pumped to take on the day. I love to play the piano. The shower is my nemesis when it comes to cleaning. How do you fold the mattress bed sheet? I'm no mother of the year. Just a woman that tries to be better every day and strives to love, forgive and trust in the vision that Heavenly Father has of me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in a strong LDS home. But like anyone I had to find my own belief and testimony of the church. It was not one single event that did this for me. It was, instead, a series of little but significant experiences that help me come to know for myself. I felt it when I sang certain songs as a young girl in church. My heart would swell with a joy and power that made me feel so happy. I knew it was true when I was baptized. An undeniable feeling that I was doing the right thing filled my soul. And then there was special night when I prayed aloud to Heavenly Father for an answer I sincerely desired. Never before had I felt such light and brightness and love radiate inside my being. I tried describing it to my mother later and said I felt like I could fly. From that night on I knew that God knew me and loved me. I know it still today. I do because I seek to live the according to the teachings of Jesus Christ and his prophets. I know for myself that God is my Heavenly Father. If he is mine then he is yours too! I know that Jesus Christ is his only begotten son. He came to earth to die that I may be redeemed of my sins as well as be resurrected one day. I know that we have the lords words before us in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know that we have an actual living prophet on the earth today! I know he speaks the will of the lord just as the prophets of old like Noah or Peter. What a tremendous blessing the gospel of Jesus Christ is! We can have peace, understanding and happiness in the midst of all the chaos and confusion of the world. I urge you to find out for yourself. Seek with pure intent and a desire to believe. God is waiting...

How I live my faith

I serve in the church as the primary chorister which is the one who leads and teaches music to the children. Each year the children put on a program of all the songs and principles they learned that year. It's my job to make sure they are ready for it. But most importantly I am responsible to give them opportunities to learn about the gospel through song and feel the spirit. RIghteous music is a powerful tool in gaining a testimony. I also serve in the woman's organization with the rest of the women. We are organized in such a way that we are called to watch over two or three women each. So if there is a need like a child birth, or move, or anything, we are in charge of taking care of their needs. This has been a tremendous blessing in being both the giver and the receiver. I have also served for 18 months as full time missionary in Seattle Washington among those that spoke spanish. That was awesome!! All members pay their way if they choose to serve in this capacity. But money cannot buy the priceless experiences one experiences on a mission. When it comes day to day in living my faith, it's just that- day by day. I start my day with prayer and scripture study. This refocuses my desires away from myself to that of the lords. Then I go about my day doing my best to be available to him. All that I have and all that I am is to help him bless others. Easier said than done at times. For I am still human. But when I do I experience joy.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Amy
Church is made up of three meetings each an hour long. The first all members meet together to take the sacrament, sing hymns and listen to talks given by fellow members. The dress code is respectful dress. Women typically wear dresses or skirts. Men wear a suit or dress shirt and tie. The second meeting is Sunday school. The last men meet together and the women meet together. Both second and third hour the children are in class according to age. Visitors are always welcome!! Come!  Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Amy
His name is Pres. Thomas S Monson. I know for myself that he is the lords chosen prophet at this time. He speaks the things the lord would have us know and do. And he is a messenger of Heavenly Fathers love for us. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Amy
" We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly.." Members of the mormon church study the Bible along with the Book of Mormon. I know that it is a true book! I love many scriptures from the Bible. One of my favorites is in Philippians 46-9,13. I draw great strength and comfort this and many other passages in the Bible. Show more Show less
