Hi I'm Mark

I've lived in California, Idaho, Utah and Arizona. I'm a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in my early years in San Jose, CA. My parents were from Minneapolis and moved to California right before I was born. I remember my childhood years when my mother was searching for a Church for our family to attend. I remember how desperately she wanted to find God and peace for her life. It was about that time when the Mormon missionaries came by our home and began teaching us. Within a short time, my mother and older sister committed to baptism and I followed a short time after that. Within a couple of years, my parents divorced. Those were trying and stretching years for me. When my mother re-married, we soon moved to Kuna, Idaho. That was a change for me, but also a wonderful experience. My child-hood years were very difficult for me, but the Lord was there for me, as I felt his love and support. After graduating from high school, I attended Utah State University for a year and then served a mission to Paraguay. After my mission, I enrolled at BYU and met Sharolyn, who became my wife. We have now been married for nearly 25 years! We have 5 kids and one grand daughter. I teach seminary for the LDS church. In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, fishing and gardening with my wife.

Why I am a Mormon

As I look back on my life, I can see the Lord's hand guiding me. I have come to know for myself that this is Christ's gospel. I have a testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that the Priesthood has been restored. I've been so grateful for my membership in the Church. My life has been richly blessed by my association with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My faith is very important to me. In my childhood and teen years I had to find out for myself if God was real and if the LDS Church truly was God's church. Through prayer, scripture study and time and experience, I have found out for myself that it is true. It has been the center of my life for 35 years now. I have served a mission and served in various callings in the Church. I was recently released as an LDS bishop. My wife and I currently serve together teaching the strengthening marriage class in our local stake. I love serving together!
