Hi I'm Debbie

I was born into the Church and I come from a long line of pioneer families. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of five children 4 girls and one boy. My husband and I were born in the northwestern United States and we have lived in the southern part of the country for the past 20 years. We love the warm weather and no snow! I enjoy sewing for my children and LDS humanitarian aid, gardening, working on food storage and being a grandmother.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have been a member my whole life. I went to church each Sunday with my family and learned about the gospel in Sunday School and youth classes during my growing up years. My testimony grew as I practiced those things that I knew to be true. I gained my own personal testimony as a young adult. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of the Lord who introduced the gospel of Jesus Christ in this dispensation. I know that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father love me and love each one of us. They know our trials and our fears and are aware of what we are going through. Our Heavenly Father has blessed me and my family through difficult times and through good times. I know that He is personally aware of the trials that I am going through and He blesses me with the things that I need to help me in my everyday life. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true and living prophet and that he guides our Church in these latter-days. I am thankful for a loving husband who honors his priesthood and loves his family. I am also grateful for my children and grandchildren. I pray daily that they will learn to love the Lord and always obey His commandments.

How I live my faith

I currently teach children 8-12 years old in my ward. We are learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ by studying from the Old and New Testaments, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants. I love helping these young people learn how to use their scriptures and teaching them the stories of Jesus from the New Testament, the stories of the Book of Mormon, the Mormon Pioneers and the stories from the Old Testament. I used to be my Stake Provident Living Specialist. I work with members of my congregation called a ward and also members of other LDS wards in our area called a stake. I tried to help the members of my church get their 3 month supply of food organized and obtained and then proceeding on to their long term food supply. To find more information on food storage and other provident living helps, go to http//providentliving.org/ . I also index genealogical records. FamilySearch indexing helps others with their family history by me using my computer to look at birth, death, marriage, census, and other records. I then type in the information I see and submit this information to FamilySearch Indexing. This information is then made available online for those searching for their ancestors. Indexing records has been my passion for thirteen years. I love the idea of helping others to find records of their ancestors online.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Debbie
I sure hope so! When I married my husband thirty six years ago I knew that I wanted to be with him forever. He is my best friend. We have gone thru many years of good times and hard times, but in the end we are there for each other. I know that when we die we are reunited with those who have died before us. If I believe that my Heavenly Father loves me, then I also believe that He wouldn't separate me from my loved ones. Matthew 18 18 confirms that this is so "that which is bound on earth, by proper authority, will be bound in heaven."   Show more Show less

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Debbie
The purposes of the Church's welfare services are to help people who are less fortunate to get back on their feet temporally, spiritually and physically. President Marion G. Romney has said, “Welfare is not a program of the Church. It is the Church.” We believe in helping all people be the best that they can be. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Debbie
It is the only true book on the face of the earth. If we live by the principles taught in this marvelous book, then we can become closer to God. The Book of Mormon is a history of Lehi's family and continuing generations that left Jeruselem and traveled to the American continent many years before the birth of Christ. It details the life and trials of the people who lived in North, Central and South America. If the people followed the teachings of Christ then they prospered. When they didn't follow those teachings, we learn of their downfall. Read it and gain your own testimony of its validity. Moroni Chapter 10 verses 4-7 4And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. 6And whatsoever thing is good is just and true wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is. 7And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy Ghost wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.   Show more Show less
