Hi I'm Davin

I struggle with a mental illness. I'm also very easy going and I love a wide variety of things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I was born in 1987 which makes me 24. I struggle quite badly with bi-poler disorder. I was diagnosed with the mental illness when I was 13. I have struggled with my mind quite often. It has made it difficult for me hold a job or have a long term relationships. I am a fun loving guy though. I love to do extreme sports like, motorbiking, snowboarding, off-roding, rock climbing, shooting, and weight lifting. I do have a calmer side too, I enjoy hanging out with friends just talking or watching a movie. I like just walking my dogs or viewing a sunset. I am a very diverse individual, who has a heavy weight to carry.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I literally owe my life to the gospel. It has saved my physical and spiritual lives too many times to count. I have, in my life, tried to live with out the gospel in my life...to be honest I do not know how anyone can do that! I was beaten down beyond what I could deal with. Because of that I tried to end my life three times. I needed the strength from the LDS Church in my life. It lifts just enough weight off me that I can make it through the day. The Atonement is the single most important event in human existence. It has been so important in my life. I can't imagine the pain the Savior suffered on my behalf as well as yours. I know God and Jesus live. I know Joseph Smith restored the true church to this earth. I know the power of the priesthood was restored through a heavenly messenger to Joseph Smith. I know Thomas S. Monson is the true and living prophet today. I will not nor will I ever deny theses things for anything. I know this Church is true. I know it is ordained of God, and the work will go forward to the time Jesus Christ comes again to this world. I love the gospel and this Church. I know, unfortunately, there are those who are poor ambassadors of our faith but remember, the Gospel is perfect even though the people who practice it are not.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example of the Mormon church in everything I do. When there is service that needs to be done in the ward or community, I try and help and participate as much as possible. In my ward I am a teacher, I get to teach a lesson once a month to some of my peers. Preparing for the lesson helps me learn and grow as well. My ward is a singles ward, so there is no one under the age of 18 that attends. I am a hometeacher as well. I have a companion who, once a month, I go with to teach a spiritual lesson to the families, or in the case of the singles ward, young single adults that we are assigned to teach. It is important that we go, because we need to make sure they are okay, spiritually and temporally. That is the best way to find out how they are doing in both of those aspects. Once a week, on Wednesday for my ward, we have a Young single adult activity. It is so we can socialize and be aware of those around us. Sometimes we play games, do something educational, or give service to someone in need.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

It is a Church of service and sacrifice, that is why the clergy are not paid. It builds character and teaches things that could not be gained if compensation was received.  Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

There is only one way to know if it is true. You have to sincerely want to know, then pray with a humble mind and heart, having faith you will receive an answer, and I promise you will get the answer you seek. Show more Show less
